Tac Tic Question

This may seem silly but I am a little confused. I bought a Tac Tic on Ebay at a good price (not so good as you will see) after it was mentioned here on the forum as a good training aid for a recovering flipper (me).

Here is the rub. The included DVD won't play in anything in my house or at work. None of my DVD players recognize it and my computer doesn't even identify it as existing when I put it in the drawer. There were no other instructions included with the Tac Tic.

OK...I have a good idea of how it should work, but I wanted to make sure I understand EXACTLY what I am doing.

At address with mid-body hands, the Tac Tic clicks. On my backswing when the club is parallel to the ground and on my toe line it clicks again. (I assume it is clicking back to a flat position). My goal is to NOT hear another click for the rest of my swing?

I have noticed that if I get lazy, the Tac Tic will click at the top of my backswing (cupped wrist?)

If I hear a click at impact, (which I don't think I can, but sometimes in the West Texas wind and with the sound of impact I might miss) then I am flipping again. Is that correct?

Also, sometimes after my swing is complete and the club is falling over my left shoulder, is it bad if it clicks then?

Thanks in advance for any help, and let me know if I am missing something else about the Tac Tic. This thing has been more difficult than I imagined, especially since I thought my left wrist was a lot flatter all of the time.

Hi Otto,

You are not missing a whole lot on the video. If you set up with mid-body hands, you will hear a click on the backswing when your left wrist flattens. Then, ideally you won't hear the click until you are past the ball. It's pretty hard to hold it all the way to the finish with no click, but the main thing is to get to at least the "both arms straight" position with no click.

I remember when I first got it, I was fine at the top, and I had to work a lot not to have it click half-way down in the downswing...I didn't realize how much I had to work to stop the face from opening on the downswing. After a little bit of practice though, it became easy.

One thing to note, the Tac Tic is a great concept, but not the best produced product in my experience. I have seen pretty big variation in how much pressure and movement is needed to make it click from one Tac Tic to another. For what they charge for a little piece of vinyl with a loop and a clicky piece of metal inside, I would think they could produce them to a higher standard.

Hi there
I use one and so do my student's. I think they are a great training aid and they really teach you to stop flipping (not as much as Brians Video" confessions of a former flipper" though).
The Tac tic does give you great feedback.
I love on the DVD how Ben Doyle uses it to teach the waggle.
If you would like a copy of it please Otto PM me your address and i will run you off a copy.
Regards
Addam
