I had a problem in the last 2 weeks with the takeaway with my driver & halfway back in the backswing. I am hitting my irons wellwith a nuetral hand grip but, with my driver I was slicing horribly. I took lessons before and was tought that you need to move the club back along the line and allow for the forearm to rotate then at waist begin to start hinging your wrists, I was pulling the club away in a one piece take a way straight back causing me to separate left arm from my body then performing my shoulders. Today I took a lesson, and he had a club pointing on my toe line about 2-5 inches away from my right foot and I had to match the clubs on the 1/2 way back on the takeaway. Started by shoulder rotation in a one piece motion and stopping when I matched up the clubs. I felt more tension in the left side of my back which was inconsistent for me (Feeling that I am rotating more and feel good resistance in my left hip). My drives were much better after the lesson, but I felt like I had a hitch or a pause in my backswing as a result of the session not as fluent as was before. The drill helped but how do I incorporate it more to make it more of a fluent motion in the backswing, without sacrificing the feeling of increased tension on the left side during the backswing?
