Do you guys take the grip with the club in the air while walking to the ball ala Tiger Woods? Or do you take the grip with the club grounded? What's the "best" way?
Used to take it in the air behind the ball. This off season changed to at the ball on the ground. This is in addition to changing from interlock which I had used for the previous 22 years to overlap. I just wanted to blow up everything surrounding my old procedures so I changed everything from the actual mechanics/fundamentals to the pre-shot routine. Kinda like how Seve and Mac buried pictures of Seve's old swing in the desert, if I did everything different then maybe that old swing and results would eventually just disappear.
P.S. I would say the best way is however you can do it right the most often.
I take it while the club is grounded behind the ball. I think I'd find that, if I took it in the air behind the ball, I'd adjust it once I got there anyways...
I take it on the ground so I can see the relationship of the grip with the alignment with the club face. I lay the club down and then place my hands on the grip.

I'm trying to get used to Manzella neutral, so I take it on the ground, then in the air, then back on the ground, and sometimes back in the air again. Takes a bit longer but has been worth it so far.
