Terrible Coverage

I thought the coverage was terrible this weekend. So many shots were not even shown.

Ex. Yesterday Phil M hit an iron into a green with a very makeable EAGLE putt. Next time you see Phil he's hitting an iron from the fairway on the next hole. This was just a few holes after he went eagle birdie and got things super exciting. There were so many missed shots yesterday it made me crazy.

I remember waking up at 6:00 to start watching the British Open, now it kicks on around 2 or so (ABC, no cable). What gives? Can I blame ESPN for this?

It's possibly the fault of the BBC (host broadcaster) as well, though the US broadcaster may have cut away for ads at important times.

On the other hand, the BBC coverage tended to include lots of 2/3 minute recap segments, which seem to have been created for other TV channels to do their advertising in.

Generally, I thought the camera angles etc were quite poor - and the BBC spent way too much time on their super slo-mo camera. They would have had a vast amount of staff etc at the tournament.

You mean that wasn't John Daly's second Claret Jug?

No.....HA! It was on ESPN 7am-1:30pm. I didn't even see it listed on ABC. Some of the issues can be attributed to the BBC feed and our guys talking over the feed and sometimes not knowing where they are going next. It used to be a bigger problem from what I remember.
