I have been working on all this golf stuff for nearly 3 full years come this July. I have made all kinds of changes from hackerdom, to Never Slice Again, to Never Hook Again, back to Never Slice Again and eventually settled in the middle of the Manzella matrix (towards the fade side) at the end of last season.

I had some amazing increases in distance, ballstriking ability, contact, and consistency. I thought it was a late season fluke, but apparently not.

I have played 4 full rounds of golf so far this year and have shot: 72, 74, 80 and i'll leave the last round out for a minute. The 72 and the 74 were at semi-difficult courses with slopes in the 120 range. Left a lot of shots on the course usually in the short game because i don't get to practice. The 80 was at a 7000+ yard course yesterday with a slope of 138 and i shot a 42 on the front with 6 bogies and a 38 on the back with a couple birdies in there too. Again left a lot of shots out there and should have been a 74 or even 75.

So today i decided to play my "proving grounds" after playing so well yesterday (despite the 80 score). This is a very short "easy" course that is a Par 71 @ 5626 yards and a slope of like 110 i think. I believe the course rating is a 66. Which is misleading in my opinion because the fairways are really narrow and the greens are really small. So sure, you could play the bomb and gouge game there but only if you are pretty accurate because there are LOTS of trees everywhere. Usually when i play bomb and gouge at this "easy course" i'll shoot par or even 1 or 2 over with a few 1 or 2 under rounds thrown in and i usually have to grind it out.

Well today i finally played that course how i knew i could:

10/14 fairways
13/18 greens
30 putts

5 birdies, 1 bogie for my personal best (at this course) of 67. I also left probably 3 or 4 more birdie butts on the table that were makeable and i even lipped out an eagle putt.

None of this could have been possible without Brian's help, some other instructors i've learned from and a whole lot of tinkering. It will be my goal now to try and shoot 62 or 63 at this course before the years out. I think it's very attainable for my ability at this course.

Thank you

Hi Jim
I am a golf pro In australia and I agree with you 100% Jim, that Brian is on hell of a great teacher, He is not only a great teacher but also how he explain's the "HOW TO" in all his movies. He make it so easy to uderstand what he is showing the veiwer.
I am a member of quiet a few sites regarding the golf swing but Brian and his site here is like the bible I alway's refer to.
Well done Brian and well done Jim for your improvements in your game the last few years.

Congrats Jim (and Brian of course), with regards to your development, you've mentioned many times the practise you've put in using plane lasers to improve your tracing of a straight plane line, and I believe that you said you try to practise with them daily, just wondering, do you have a set "routine" that you do? or is it just a matter of grabbing a club with the lasers on it and swinging each day? (P.s. I just bought the lasers and also struggle with swing plane).

No specific routine and to be honest i haven't even used them much lately. I'll just grab a club and swing it for 5-10minutes in my apt and just make sure everything is ok.

I stumbled upon this site a couple of months ago and have been extremely pleased with it. I am a golf swing junkie, I love to absorb all the info I can. But these video answers are off the charts, if Brian doesnt watch it he is going to be ranked in the top five teachers and getting "Leadbetter's lesson fees". If Brian was in the Michigan area I would of taken a lesson by now from him, but in a year or two I don't know if I will be able to afford a lesson from him. (I have a hunch he is going to be in high demand in the near future)... I would just like to say thanks Brian for sharing your knowledge for free on here, for us (the average Joe) who might not have the extra money in the budget for weekly golf lessons.

3 years!!! That is fantastic, Jim! There is no question as to Brian's ability to teach and I've heard he is a lot nicer guy in person:D :D but...the student has to apply it and by god it sounds like you have!!!
