I had an opportunity to work in Atlanta for four days. I was a bit skeptical about it since I dont want to leave my 15-month old son and a pregnant wife for a week. Upon learning that Atlanta has become a Jedi Training Center,
I knew this trip is well worth it.

25 miles from our hotel, I drove to Marrietta to peek at how TGM instructors can be compared to a typical golf instructor.
As soon as I got out of the car, I saw a madman hitting an impact bag. He was hitting it so hard that the bag can't take the
beating anymore. One seam ripped and I can see the stuffing as the bag flew at least five feet when he hits it.

I told myself I have to get a lesson from this madman. If he can do that to an impact bag, what more to a golf ball? I introduced
myself and fortunately he has a spare time the next day. We agreed on a two hour lesson and I have to use his clubs since I am
only armed with a camcorder and a TGM book.

The session started with learning how each arm functions in a golf swing. I learned the grip, stance, address position, the famous flying wedges, right forearm takeaway, hinges, pressure points, extensor action, the top, address, impact, and follow through. It was
an eye-opener for me and still amazed by how the TGM can be made simple. No big shoulder turn, hands are level with the shoulder and
tracing a straight line with a bent right wrist. The big key for me is how to get to the top with my hands on plane, forearm and elbow
supporting a leaning wall.

Yoda made sure that I can get to the top in perfect alignments. We spent at least an hour monitoring my hands at the top. Why an hour?
because I spent months in learning Dante's magic moves. Dante's magic moves give you an arched wrist from start to finish (I will not
recommend this to somebody with weak wrists). I also have learned to sway from Mike Austin's compound pivot and Dante's Hip movement in
downswing. The hitting motion that Yoda taught me is so simple yet very effective. I finally heard what a compressed ball sounds like.
It was an experience worth remembering.

P.S. - You are not buying a magic pill from Yoda but instead he will give you a prescription that you will take (and practice)
for the rest of your golfing life.

The Instructor can only 'inform and explain.' It is the Student who must 'absorb and apply.'

I'm proud of you, Cisco. Stay with it!

Perhaps a humorous story?
In the late 60's I tried to adopt to the magic moves, especially #1.
I spent an entire winter in S.D. practising, hitting approx. 2000 balls a month, outside, at least 5 months. Thought I had perfected the move. (ala Tom Leyman, I had an arched left wrist at the top) Everything I hit was a hook but sometimes a big hook, requiring 2 men and a boy to find.
Finally, in June, the course opened. Although I warmed up/hit practice shots before playing, my swing off the first tee was my old swing!

Ciscoxpert,

This is great to here and continued success with your new knowledge. As for your name "ciscoxpert", are you a member of the "borg" or an outsider with great knowledge? ccie?
