At the Masters, I spent quite a bit of time watching on the range. The teachers doing some teaching. The players sorta-kinda listening.

I didn't see very many teachers teaching anything that looked like Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player...etc

I didn't even see gary Player trying to swing like himself!

Everybody seems to have a GIMICK to try to keep golfers from getting the club to swing too far to the right or have the the face too closed. I must be a Martian, because I can do it without any gimicks. The last two days I have had VERY good players in to see me in Louisville, and we fixed BOTH no problem.

Anyhoo, it is alarming. Because some of that stuff will NOT WORK AT ALL on Mr. Fabersham, or Mr. Eteplayeverywhere.

Well, it need to look at the bright side:

This is setting up PERFECT for me. ;)

Brian,

Money and ego......that's why they feel the need to re-invent the wheel...

There are basically only 12 levers and a series of muscles to control in a golf swing, and I think this has been adequately achieved in the past, long before "gurus" came on the scene..

All the gurus do is re-hash the same stuff, use different words and sell it as new....

Strange..three years ago a pro was trying to make me swing more upright.....now all I am seeing is the top players trying to do the opposite...doh...:)

Can you elaborate on what you did to help them from swinging too far to the right?>

The best players will always figure out a way to do it right. That is, to get the club do what it's suppose to do at the moment of truth. Otherwise they won't remain the best.

IMO the best will always stay the best because of their short game and their putting.

To be honest you can make ANYTHING work if you are talented enough. But it doesn't mean they are doing it the most optimal way.
