A good image I like to use for shortgame is to think of either a 'funnel', or a basketball hoop with the net/bottom facing directly downhill through the cup. Chip or putt the ball through the net and you will always have decent putts for par (uphill), or at the least, avoid sidehill putts. Let the ball 'fall' through the funnel/net.
