Let me start by saying that this a true story and the names will be left out of it forever and if anyone even takes a guess guess on this site, I will take the thread down.

Here goes....

A teacher who teaches multiple players on tour told me that a student of his who is a multiple tour winner, came to him with TrackMan path numbers around 2-3° outside-in.

He worked previously with a teacher who totally dislikes swings that do not produce inside-out impacts.

The former teacher used a lot of video.

Seems to me that the previous teacher basically thought his numbers were the opposite of what they were. And no matter how much video you use you may be flying blind.

The other teacher would have bet the house on inside-out.

That's the point.

For club delivery info, video is USELESS.

Maybe he would be swinging way too outside in if it wasn't for this teacher to get him to swing more inside out.

Did the mutliple tour winner win events with the instructor who was essentially 4 to 6 degrees off in both magnitude AND direction? If so is that simply pure talent overcoming pure ignorance? If so it's scary.

Was this the previous student's path when he first came to the new teacher? Was the old teacher looking at video and thinking the student had an in-to-out path when the student's path was really out-to-in.?

Geez...

Y'all are over thinking this thing. Teacher #1 doesn't use TrackMan, loves an inside-out contact, thought the golfer was doing it.

I think I made my point.

But Brian, he was only off by 5 or 6 degrees in the opposite direction. Surely that's within the margin of error. After all, could 5 or 6 degrees reall effect the ball flight that much?

Video is totally intuitive... TrackMan is objective and reveals the truth.

The real challenge is to change the body kinetics and arm-club kinematics to get the desired results as confirmed by TM.

Teachers who are guessing intuitively are obsolete because of the addition of scientific understanding of the golfswing by enlightened teachers.

What we are witnessing in the world of golf pedagogy is the obsolescence of a whole generation of old teachers by new teachers armed with TM + Science. Gonna be interesting.
