The Ground and how to use it to hit the ball hard??

Recently on another thread I showed my lack of knowledge and ability to not think before punching a keyboard...I apologize. So, now I learned that I need to take a step back and keep my mouth shut and just read and learn and ask questions and not give much opinion..Okay Im chill. Here is my first opened- eyed reasonable question...How does the lower body work in a powerful golf swing..and how do long hitters like Tiger,Sadlowski..etc. use the ground for power?? To me the footwork and use of the lower body nowadays look so much more violent than in the past...nicklaus/hogan etc., in terms of push into the ground and torquing then almost springing out of the ground..if that makes sense. I did a search in the search engine here and didn't find much discussion on the subject. Can someone please help me find the info?? Or can Brian or someone that knows, shed light on the subject for me???

Listening and Learning..Thanks.

How many of Brian's Youtube videos have you watched? I think you would benefit greatly from watching the Youtube shows, and also from digging through some of the older threads. There are some great swing sequence analyses and many great caches of information that would be useful to you in discussing the swing. I'm pretty new to the forum as well and think that the best course of action for guys like you and I is to soak up as much information as possible before we chime in with advice or opinions. Just a thought.

All of them. Most of everything on here....still going through it, but didn't find much..Maybe there isn't enough data, or the answer is too hard to describe. Maybe some just don't think it matters...which I think would be ridiculous to say.

When you shift weight back and then forward (linear motion) to go into your downswing this linear motion gets transferred into rotational motion.

So this happens from the ground up??? I torque my feet, which torques my legs...so on...you know kinetic chain??? Is there a kinetic chain??? Some conflicting info there....Doah!! Ill start with the pivot article and RE-read that...I probably missed something...

There is a kinetic chain! It works like this: the hips start the downswing by accelerating and then decelerating, giving up their kinetic energy to the thorax (upper body), which accelerates and then decelerates giving up it's kinetic energy to the lead arm (left arm for a right handed golfer), which accelerates and then decelerates giving up it's kinetic energy to the golf club which accelerates and then declerates.
There is no debating that there are an infinite amount of ways to swing a golf club, however science has shown that there is only one efficient way to swing a club. The kinetic chain exists in other sports, not only golf. Hope this helps.

Thanks...Ill read the pivot article and research the kinetic chain stuff and that should keep me busy for a while. As you can tell I'm way behind on D-plane, Kinetic chain/so on so forth...the science behind it all. I can perform the moves sometimes, but I don't know theory and would like to participate in discusions more without sounding like a goof. I picked up the Physics of Golf today, so that will help. Thanks for the input.
