The Longest Driver

Looking for opinions on driver heads and shafts for distance and control. I recently purchased the 'Bang-O-Matic' with a Harrison titanium shaft. This is a long and forgiving club. Looking for what you think is best out there?

Had a BOM and hated it. I am now using a Cobra SZ400. Some complain the sound is too loud, but I have never hit a hotter faced driver and it is scary how long the thing is. The stock shaft while not as great as some of the after-market exotics, is still quite workable. A nice easy tempo and the thing just wants to go straight.

Funny you mention the Cobra. Last Friday on the 18th took an extra tee shot with my buddies Cobra SZ400. Hit it off the toe and still equaled the distance of my BOM that I thought I crushed, so I thought??

I dont know why there isnt more love for the Cobra drivers when it comes to us regular Joes. Yes it is loud. I am about 90% deaf, but i can even hear that thing resonate a bit. But still, who cares about sound when it performs the way it does? I have also hit the SS350 with the same identical shaft that my SZ400 has and it is every bit as long. you can pick one of those up rather cheap these days. I have not tried the 440 Comp, but have heard it is equally hot as well. I just never cared for that BOM one bit. Too big for my tastes. The SZ400 is about as big as I care to go with.

The longest driver is the one that is long enough (driver length by inch) that you consistently hit on the screws with the appropiate launch angle/spin for your desired ball speed.

Nothing special about it...find a head that has enough loft that will consistently get you in the launch condition you need to be in and then fine tune shafts until it gives you the spin you need.

It should take a few tries, but any good club builder should have it for you within a few tries.

The Integra heads are nice and inexpensive. Try the So - Long model.
Beautiful bright blue color. Available in 12 degrees!!

FWIW, i am currently using the george slupski bom (slightly smaller than the original). i have the 10.5* model. it's the best driver that i have hit. have to agree with jim oo68 though, it's what you can hit well that counts.
