Hello folks.
The 1st Annual Brian Manzella Golf Swing Symposium is being held for the express purpose of learning real science from real scientists so that real golf teachers and real golf researchers can go out and make golfers better.
Period.
I nicknamed it the ANTI-SUMMIT, not to "knock" the PGA's Teaching and Coaching Summit, AMF's Instructor Summit, or TGM's Summits, but to point out it is NOT ANYTHING LIKE ANY OF THEM.
That's all.
There will be NO presentations, per se. Of course the scientists may have to do some shortish, impromptu ones to explain a difficult concept or two.
There will just be a guided topic driven discussion, featuring the three scientists, assisted by the real-world panel, kept moving along yours truly.
We will start at impact—i.e. what happens to the ball, is there a heavy hit?, do shafts contribute, what determines low point, what can throw impact off completely, where should the body be at that point in the swing, the weight, the force in the ground, etc.
And then we will work backwards through the swing from there.
There will not be any methods that will be examined as a whole. We will suggest to those in attendance, NOT to even mention what methodology their question comes from. Just ask it plainly, and keep the "names" out to protect the innocent.
There is SO MUCH PURE SCIENCE to discuss, there is no time to ask ANY questions about how or what to teach."What type of grip would fix slicers the best?" for example, will not be allowed to be discussed. this is NOT about opinion, or HOW to teach something.
This symposium is about the WHAT.
I am moderating this event, something I have wanted to do at an event like this since I was just a pup teacher. I love to moderate, and I feel I am very qualified and quite capable of the fairness, smarts, knowledge, and explanatory ability to get the job done.
In a lot of ways, I am auditioning to moderate other teaching seminars for other groups. If anything, I will be hyper-fair.
I am NOT presenting.
We will have a scheduled time frame to get through topics throughout the day and we ask that run-on sentences, and statements be kept to a minimum by all.
But you are allowed and encouraged to stick up for your beliefs, debate the scientists or other attendees, and participate. Just keep it to the topic at hand and the SCIENCE.
It's all about the science.
......................................
The room will comfortably hold 44 attendees (not counting the real world panel of 6 or 7 pros, the 3 scientists or myself).
We likely will cut off registration when we get to 44.
Register as soon as you can.
......................................
More detail to follow in this thread.
Thanks,
Brian Manzella
