I will accept you guys and gals opinions on the list, then we will all compile the swing sequences, I'll post them all in this thread MARKED UP and un-marked, and we will do GOLF A GREAT SERVICE.

(Too many coo-coo teachers teaching coo-coo stuff out there).

The list is the BEST PLAYERS of all-time (of the STEEL SHAFT ERA) and then in the (...), their best pattern.

4. Byron Nelson (circa 1945)

5. Sam Snead (circa 1954)

6. Arnold Palmer (circa 1962)

7. Lee Trevino (circa 1971)

8. Tom Watson (circa 1977)

9. Gary Player (circa 1978)

10. Johnny Miller (circa 1974)

11. Phil Mickelson (circa 2006)

Nick Faldo?
Colin Montgomerie (most definately not circa 72nd fairway of US Open)? May not rank with the list, but did dominate Order of Merit and Ryder Cup.

If The List is for best golfers, I don't think you can keep Annika off the list.

Moe was a great ball striker-not a great golfer (relative to The List).

Great White Shark, surely.

How bout Weiskopf?

Hale Irwin?

Freddie?

I think him being a great ballstriker makes him a great golfer.....not with the records of these guys but we all have know the reasons for that more-or-less...

I just think his swing is worth studying.

Maybe there should be an "Honorable Mention" section.

if its gonna be best patterns mickey wright should definately be on the list wonderful swing the epitome of the square nuetral golf swing

Henry Cotton

In 1937 Henry Cotton won his second British Open at Carnoustie, from a field that included the entire US Ryder Cup side, including Snead, Nelson, Hagen, Sarazen and Guldahl. Won his third in 1948 after the war.

brian,
just curious, what do you define as the "STEEL SHAFT ERA"?...i know shafts used to be made out of wood, but don't when that ended...and do you think the "STEEL SHAFT ERA" has ended with most players using graphite in their drivers?
