The Most Positive Website in Golf

Today, a poster said this can be a negative place.

No indeed.

This website is—in my very humble opinion—The Most Positive Website in Golf.

Now, why do I say that?

Because, we believe that there is ALWAYS a better way, ALWAYS a way to get better at what we do, and always a way for you to get better. There is always hope for a better tomorrow.

And that is as positive as positive can be.

In short, we believe that we can—and you can—always look forward to, and always shoot for the attainable goal of Improving Everyday.

That is our mission statement, advertising program, and philosophy all in two words.

In the process of this "Improving Everyday," we learn new stuff everyday.

And we LOVE learning at the Manzella Academy.

Somedays—like the last two on this secret research mission—we learn a BUNCH of new stuff.

What kind of stuff?

New ways to fix the most common problems in golf. And new ways to fix the uncommon problems.

New Ways to help a student hit it better right away, in a way that doesn't prevent them from—but actually encourages—continuing to get better. Which is one of our core principles.

We learn better science everyday. Better teaching techniques, better video techniques, better website techniques.

We learn how to do better clubfitting, and where to send our students for high-end, top-of-the-line fittings.

And when we learn these new ways of improving YOUR golf games everyday, we HAVE TO DISCARD our previous "solution."

You can not develop a relationship with an idea. Otherwise, we would still be in horse-drawn carriages.

And, because we try to the best of our ability to have an answer for a very, very wide array of questions and problems, there is a chance that everyday or almost everyday—because we are ALWAYS DIGGING FOR KNOWLEDGE—we will HAVE TO discard an old solution.

Remember: Resistance to NEW THOUGHT thwarts PROGRESS.

We test EVERY WORTHWHILE IDEA that passes in front of us. And when you search for new information as hard as we do, and when you debate it, discuss it, and TEST IT as hard and thoroughly as we do, you are always having to discard old solutions.

It happens everyday at the MANZELLA GOLF THINK TANK, and every time it does, it is cause for celebration.

And, we celebrate a lot around here. :D

Sometimes we just toss old ideas aside. Sometimes we have a Jazz Funeral for them.

So folks, when we are critical of another methodology besides our own, we have VERY, VERY, VERY GOOD CAUSE FOR DOING SO.

Why do I think that to be the case?

Because, before we criticize something, I promise you that we have tested the total SHE-AT out of it, and we found it to be LACKING in some way.

Sometimes, we find it to be total and complete junk as well.

And we feel the need to TELL YOU FOLKS, not all the time, but when is is VERY IMPORTANT TO, because 99% you come to this site to IMPROVE.

And, for the folks who come for some fun, sometimes the story is quite funny too.

But, realize this: When we are being critical of another methodology, we are doing something we do to ourselves TO OUR METHODOLOGY EVERYDAY.

We are being honest.

We evaluate EVERYTHING WE DO, and EVERYTHING EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING, based on results. Period.

When we find something good, we tell you. Same with the bad. Or the slightly less than ideal.

Here is a great example:

On this recent research trip to a top secret location, we also traveled to a high-end clubfitter, and all of us went through a complete fitting.

Once upon a time, we were VERY HIGH on a company that did "Shaft fitting." To us, back then, it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

It did help some folks play better.

But, the long term results just weren't so good.

So, we got very luke-warm on the company and their methodology.

Now, we are quite cold on it.

We will TELL YOU the honest truth why if we feel the need to, or if we are asked and we find it to be newsworthy.

We WON'T throw that old company completely "under the bus," unless there is damn good reason to.

This company that I am talking about in this case had some GREAT ideas, and way back, the implementation of those ideas was at least at B+

But, after couple of years, their quality went downhill. Plus, we learned why and where there was an even better way to fit shafts and clubs.

So we changed our recommendation to a second company. We were moderately high on them, and had success with them. They still are "recommended" by us, just not our top recommendation.

Today, we have a totally different top recommendation for you folks on "Clubfitting" on the high-end.

It is only a slightly different methodology and implementation of that methodology than the previous recommendation, but it is getting even further way from the old one I was talking about.

This is GREAT POSITIVE NEWS FOR EVERYONE!!!!

Right?

I mean, as teachers of the Manzella Academy we now have a place to send our students to be fit like a PGA Tour star.

The other teachers that visit this site might take our advice, and in turn be better able to help their students get fit.

And, all the golfers who visit the site, who listen to our advice, now have a place to go for a top-of-the-line fit.

ISN'T THAT IS GREAT FOR EVERYONE???

Almost.

It is great for everyone but the first company that we have completely discarded, and the second one we are moving slightly away from.

To them, this is negative, negative, negative place.

Nah, to me, it is cause for celebration!

Why?

Because we just lived up to our goal of "Improving Everyday."

So we can help you do the same.

:)

HI Brian

That's what its all about...results. That was a fun read, Thanks B.:)

Inspirational post or what?!!!

Unusually, I'm a bit lost for words! That is such an inspirational piece of writing! It also rings very true to me from my short acquaintance with this forum.

Awesome!!!

The first website I recommend to anyone. Most have never heard of Brian Manzella but ALL of them thank me for the site recommendation afterward.

Great post Brian!

A couple things to add or at least my opinion on a couple of things. First the Manzella Instructors and Brian are indeed very fair and almost bend over backward to remain positive even if they are dressing someone down regarding a topic that they feel to be wrong or scientifically be wrong. Where some may construe an element of negativity from them is from their sometimes passionate responses. To me these are anything but negative.

There have been others on the forum however that have been purposefully negative and Brian had done a great job on weeding those out. I was reading some old posts of banned members and their comments were ridiculous. Good to be rid of their bad vibe! There are still some members that like the shock value of writing something outrageous but they are not representative of the forum. I was going over the thread of the profile of the members (maybe not all were completely forthright but...) and we have some very mature professional people here and I for one am very glad to be a part of the best forum around.

I will second that!!!!

I have been on many different forums, not just golf... and this, is by and large the best, with, the friendliest, easiest to conntact and talk to owner.

Informative? yes.
Getting better every day? absolutely. There are things better understood and even some things completely thrown out, from when I first visited this site almost 3 years ago.

BMan, that was a great post. Thanks for just coming out, and saying it point blank.

Well done, Brian. A great post!

I don't post much on this forum as I don't consider myself to be anyone to be able to give swing advice or comment on someone's else's swing. That said, most of the time I just lurk and take in the advice given from not only from Brian and his excellent staff, but from many of the other knowledgeable and capable instructors that frequent Brian's site. In addition to learning from Brian's excellent video's, both commercial and on YouTube, I often will glean a great deal of information from many of the excellent posts here.

I love the fact that Brian is really open to new ideas and does not discard something that seems outside the box until he has given it a fair and honest trial. Then he will give his honest assessment as to it's worth.
Keep it up, Buddy!
