The Necessity of a TGM Magazine

I swear this month's Golf Digest is one of the worst in quite awhile. The "top 7" instructors each wrote a tip and either it was bad advice, or a tip that has been recycled so much it isn't worth writing about. These people know that the articles they write give us an idea of their knowledge of the game of golf. I'd be writing the best stuff I knew, not the crap I see on a monthly basis. It's a very good thing guys like Mike Bender (in last month's golf magazine as an example) continue to write very good articles.

Agree - 100%...I'm starting to evaluate why I get that (and others)....I said in a post not long ago...a TGM quarterly would sell..I get Golf Tips and they do 7 issues a year..and I always get something out of those....Brian could start out 4 times a year and have all the regulars here contribute (there are some excellent posters here)..I'm sure there would be some licensing issues with the owners of the TGM name..but.....

Excellent idea. I subscribe to Golf Tips and Golf Illustrated (it has quite a few TGMers) so that I can sort out the junk. Look at the equipment in the rest.

Good idea for a quarterly TGM. I bet Brian could sell it to the TGM folks if he tried.

Here's hoping he does.

I would start with a foundation magazine, explaining TGM in an extended nutshell and having a whole lot of great articles by various TGM teachers like SAY, Brian, Ben, Ron Gring, Bobby Schaeffer and others who would want to be involved. Matt Killen too would be great. If there were some frontline names mixed in we might be able to get TGM off the ground to the masses.

This is a fantastic idea and the instruction would never get old as TGM doesn't adhere to pop instruction and the recycling of old ideas. With the 35443546423464523 patterns out there, you could always find something interesting to discuss.

Which tips do you object to? I know most of them are recycled, but I'm not sure, and this might be a first, but I don't think there's much wrong with any of them.

Vandal,

My girlfriend who doesn't play could have given me Butch Harmon's tip. McLean's tip about a centered ball position somehow guaranteeing a descending blow is laughable. If he said it encourages a descending blow then that would be quite different. I'm in the process of moving so I can't really look at the other's this second.

If Natural Golf can have their own magazine, surely TGM could too.

About 4 years ago, in a weak moment, I ordered the NG program, but when it arrived in its nice case, I decided NOT to even look at the tapes. I was able to resell it on eBay for a small loss, but kept the 1 year subscription to Golf Magazine. BUT, I also get sent the Natural Golf magazine and it still keeps coming even although I told them I am not interested!

Damn right. We don't need no more stinkin' magazines. The print media is dying. This is where it's at. We need interactive video. Bring it home cybermule.
