The Purpose Of The Golf Glove

I just wanted to get people opinions on golf gloves. Why do some of us not wear them? What is the purpose of the golf glove? I don't wear one cuz I seem to rip them like crazy, even if they fit perfectly.

They (supposedly) allow you to grip the club lightly without it slipping in your fingers. Without a glove you would need a fimer grip...

I used to go through them like crazy and then I learned how to grip correctly (thanks Brian).

Now, I don't use them anymore. Since I live in Texas, I do carry a towel to wipe the grips off which helps a great deal.

Also, I found that regripping your clubs each year also helps (I do my own and save the bucks). One last thought, ensure your grips are the right size. I found that I went through a bunch of gloves due to wrong grip and wrong grip size (too large).

Since I worked on my grip....

I can keep a glove for a long time. If you are going through them fast, check you grip.

I am getting to a place where I am going to stop using one.

I was fitted last year so my grip should be correct. Now that I'm using Brian's "neutral" grip I might try the glove again to see how it feels. I do need a few clubs re-gripped as well.
