The secret of golf is actually hitting through the ball instead of hitting the ball

is this right?

Sure you can hit a pitch shot to the green, but you can't hit a full swing?

Why not feel of how to pitch the ball to the green and then do that with your full swing?

The aim should be at your target..and not the ball

"Of course you need to lean how to swivel your hands and pivot, but if you can pitch a shot perfectly to the green you shoudl incorporate that to your swing"

The closest thing to a "secret" might be understanding the D-plane and how various factors influence the alignment of the D-plane. It isn't REALLY a secret though.

I suppose by our own fundamentals I mean our own most repeatable "natural" d plane action that we can repeat ourselves

True, it's whatever YOU need to do to get the D-plane alignment required for the shot. What you do and what I do might be completely different (actually different OR a different feel) to get similar numbers. It's sexier to call it a secret though :)

I stand by my statement, there is no one secret to golf; i will however agree with faux that knowing/understanding/applying the d-plane is the closest thing but there's a lot that goes into and it can't be "one" secret thus i stand by my statement there is no one secret to golf for anyone.

I agree with many others that there isn't "one" secret to playing golf. And for me personally, trying to hit "through" the ball ruined me for a long time. That being said, I think there are certain situations where golfers can have one goto feel that really helps them to hit the ball better. But even just hitting the ball straighter or farther is only one aspect of having a golf game that allows you to score well because there is always going to be something that you can work on to improve. Of course thinking that the one thing to playing better golf resides in the full swing is just silly because that completely ignores short game, which we all know is where the true scoring happens.

"Hitting through the ball" doesn't do much for me, and in fact seems like if I used that, I might flip or early release the clubhead through and past the ball.

For me, at least for irons I need to think about hitting down and having low point past ball. That seems like a bit of a fundamental, at least for irons. I have a hard time imagining a golfer whos swing feel is "not take a divot" or to have an early low point (yet doesn't actually wind up doing that, just a trick).

I agree with you, there is no one secret. Just playing devil's advocate in a way, I am hitting it so much better understanding that the ball doesn't start on the path which is what I thought until the beginning of this year. I haven't been on trackman yet so I don't know my numbers but just having a clue about the D-plane helps me fix myself. I don't curve it as much either.

The key is knowing what you need to do to hit it good, so there is no one secret, just whatever you need to do.

My secret to golf is to hit the ball in such a way where it takes the least amount of times hitting it before it goes in the hole. It's a pretty sound way to play golf.
