The sound of impact

I was working this weekend on more of a hitter's motion, having always been a swinger, and discovered that when hitting my impact had a different sound. Swinging, it is the sound of a stone/turf/sizzle. Hitting, it was more of a gun shot sound. A bit like a 22 rifle. Hard to miss the difference really.

A thanks to Brian, Ben and Lynn for their emphasis on learning to "MASH IT", and to "OBLITERATE THE PLANE LINE" - both of which I hadn't really used until trying more of a hitter's motion.

down, down, down - no more 'polish'

Thanks.

Well I've tried this but with no luck. Of course, I'm assuredly doing something wrong. But I'm still doing better as a "frisbee thrower" rather than an "axe handle pounder" by maintaining the bent right wrist through impact.

I've had a nice surprise in the form of a benefit from watching Ben Doyle's tape. I've been trying to emulate his stroke in my long chips/short pitches with excellent results. I even sunk a 30 yard shot for an eagle Sunday.

I am throwing the axe handle like a frisbee. Still doing the radial pull thing, instead of longiudinal. COnfusing and contradictory, pulling lengthwise on the shaft towards the plane line while aiming the hnds towards the ball. Mayb I will get a fishing rod to get the feel. Using a rope doesn't help. I can swing it radially or just use my right shoulder and the rope end still goes through the impact zone. Not sure what zI am supposed to be doing with the rope. SHould I be pulling the rope away from the target, parallel to the target line, but somehow the hands are supposed to go in a striaght line towards the ball?

In the precision impact You will hear the sweet click of the initial impact blended into the deformation/compression of the ball and the ball leaping off then blending into the sizzle, or speed of the ball ripping through the sky/air resistance sound (the higher the note the better).

Wait till your right arm really pumps.

I have a bit of trouble really getting the right arm thrust because of a right shoulder problem (torn labrum). One of these days I'll have surgery on it.
