Thin Hits?

Remember that the ball is ON-PLANE...so if you are BELOW PLANE, you HAVE TO come 'up' to get to the ball.

More often than not...a thin or FAT shot is the result.

A faulty "INTENTION" of "hitting-up" (as Brian mentioned) or "scooping" in an attempt to get the ball up into the air.

The result is mostly : either

a "Thin shot"-hitting the top half of the ball after missing the ground behind,

or

a "Fat shot"-hitting the ground behind before hitting the bottom half, which is, however, ideal for a green-side bunker shot.

Another possibility to cure thin shots is to use more #2 power accumulater(uncocking of left wrist). This is a downward motion and does not cause the loss of a flat left wrist.Peter Croker explains this hittng motion well.I understand he learned this from Tom Tomasello a G.S.E.D.

For a minute, please forget that this is a thread about thin hits.

I don't understand this...
I think Peter Croker says that he wants to un-cock the left wrist so that the shaft and left arm are virtually straight at impact (I'm talking about if you looked from the up-the-line view). That is very different from his address position where the shaft and left arm are not straight. How does he do this (by impact) without hitting it fat?

Another thing, he also talks about reducing the bend of his right wrist by the time he gets to impact. Wouldn't this also lead to fat shots? He specifically says that keeping the right hand bent coming into impact leads to a lack of power and accuracy.

I have been to a 3 day Croker clinic. He teaches a FEEL of uncocking. If he said to reduce rt. wrist angle that ia a FEEL thing. I don'T think he said that. Many people were left golf crippled by the thoughts of pullng(good way to lose pressure pt. #3)and holding angles(unnatural move).

One does not have to have the intention at all, he just can be way off plane. Most thin shots I see in players are from being off plane. Too flat backswing.
