Throwaway as a cure????

I don't mean real, literal throwaway. But has anyone had the experience of making a good swing, with good impact conditions and good lag, that felt like throwaway? Or at least, what you thought throwaway would feel like? I get the feeling that I'm hanging on to long in order to get my hands out in front and create lag. As a result, everything is right to right. I don't think I'm helped by the fact that my left hand is significantly stronger (physically, not grip type) than my right. HELLP!!!!

Probably more of a sweep release than throwaway if impact alignments were good. A sweep release is not a bad thing, some players utilize it (Watson) and some teachers (Ballard) recommend it.

1- NEVER move your hands with your hands—esp. trying to create "forward hands"....never ever.

2- Throwaway CAN b 'performed' in a way that STILL produces a flat left wrist at impact, but the softest impact you can get with a FLW.

To me, you are using #2 to cure #1...two wrongs making a right(er).

Better to "Do It Right."

Use AIMING POINT or IMPACT HAND LOCATION to create delay.

Easy method: From the top, use your belly to drag your hands to the finish swivel, then let the club pull YOU the rest of the way.

Thanks for the responses.

I knew you would say something like that :). My problem is that whenever I try to leave my hands, the club never catches up. I guess I either need to pay a visit to Kentucky or NO, or I need to post a video of my swing, cause I'm losin it LOL

I have the same issue. I had a lesson this weekend with my local pro who is pretty generic with his method. For mw, it is great as I work on what I learn here and from the videos, and get him to check what I am working on and make sure I am not going off at a tangent.

Anywhoo, this weekend I had a lesson and he made two small changes. The first was that my hands were too far behind the ball at address (used to be too far infront, tried to get them centered and over did it). The other was that the club was way behind my hands and I NEVER felt the No 3 pressure point. He tried to get me to "cast the club". It felt that way compared to where I had been. After a few tries, suddenly solid contact. Distance was back in a big way. I hit some of my longest drives by "casting" from the top. I did hit some real bad shots, and those where were I really did cast, where my body did nothing and my arms and hands threw the club from the top, but once I could focus on the pivot, and "cast", nice solid shots.

I never feel #3 either. I seem to recall reading that #3 was clubhead feel. So, I'm thinking I may need to start focusing on the clubhead a little more?

Naw . . . forget about the clubhead. Try these to feel #3

1. Hit some short shots with your right thumb off the grip pointing out

2. Hold the club up parallel to the ground with your right hand golf grip only like you were gonna chuck a javelin. Let the weight of the club just lay on your right forefinger. That the dead weight inertia you gotta feel. Not that strong but be sensitive to it.

3. Make some swings even hit some shots with your eyes shut. Focus on the motion of the clubhead. Then focus on the motion and feelings in the hands. Which one do you feel you are better able to control?

My stromie Silver Surfer Drewitgolf says "Your hands will communicate all that is going on. The problem is most golfers are not listening. The hands will communicate all of this if you will only pay attention. They, pressure points 1,2,3 located in the hands, are always trying to communicate, along with their distant cousin, the #4 Pressure Point. That is where your precision is if you use them; recognizing and reconcilling minor differences. The first step is to listen even if you don't speak the language yet."
