Thumb on lead grip?

Brian: Can you post a pic of and describe the placement of the left thumb on your grip. My understanding is that the left thumb should be on the aft side of the grip not sitting on top of it. I am unsure how much should be sitting on the rear side of the grip.

I just took Brian's beginner class through the University of Louisville and he taught that you should make a thumb print with your left thumb on your grip. So in order to make a print it needs to be "sitting on top of it" as you say. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. By the way, I improved more after 6 one hour group lessons by Brian than I had in 10 years of playing on my own.
