Tiger and the cut shot with driver. Why?

Commentators are constantly mentioning Tiger using a cut shot with the driver(not necessarily during this tourney). Don't think I have heard them mentioning anyone else using the cut shot off the tee. Why is he using it with a driver?

I think they are talking about a small fade with the driver. It is a more reliable shot.
