Just curious who folks think will emerge victorious today. Regarding Tiger and Phil - who does it benefit more to have played the earlier two rounds together?
I am going out on a limb and say Phil will win today. After playing two earlier rounds with Tiger, the awe of it has worn off. Moreover, I think Phil is hitting his iron shots better overall which will be key to making birdie today.
He certainly was shoveling some towards Tiger before the round. I was shocked but I don't think any reporter asked Tiger about the Phil comments before the round or after.
The reality of today is that if Phil doesn't behave like Phil and double bogey a hole, the match is not even a match. But that is precisely why I love to watch Phil.
The reality of it is, Tiger couldn't putt into the ocean. Phil had 23 putts yesterday. But props to him for responding to Tiger's stiffs with his own. Very rare, but let's keep in mind: SCOREBOARD (major and tour wins).
Well hey..........I didn't see the whole round but if it was the other way around and Phil couldn't putt it in maybe they woulda said the pressure got to him a bit.
Now I know this is Tiger and it would be too early to say that cause he usually turns it on when he needs to but..................if it was anyone else......
And yes Tiger still is #1 of course. But you gotta chip away. Phil did a good job. Gotta put the heat on him however you can. It ain't easy but you gotta try. All you have is effort man.
birdie_man--Tiger was going for 3 in a row and anyone watching knows that that was some shaky putting. I wouldn't say the pressure got to him. He putted poorly ALL WEEK.
