Tiger press conference

That's funny. He was just tweeting about how he would donate a million bucks if they didn't ask about the knee. Guess he is sick of answering the same old questions.

He was always boring, we just never noticed because of the fist pumps.

HeHeHe...Mr Faux Maestro you said it right...LOL I'll not soon forget Fred Funk being called colorful because he jumped around a bit while others didn't.
After I retired from the Champios Tour I decided to shoot PGA Tour photographs...well, I was at Tampa (Now the Outback) Gil Morgan hits it 7 feet from the pin in 2 on this par 5...I get into perfect position to get a spectacular fist pumping reaction after he makes this straight in down grain, a very simple putt...he knocks it in...shi%!!! NOTHING...he didn't even blink...whooops he had his hand near his belt and raised 4 fingers in dramatic appreciation of the gallery's cheers...LOL

I never offered to cover another Champions Tour event again...got what I wanted at Bay Hill when a sick Tiger won by 8 or 9 shots...So yes, those fist pumps were just about all the action on either tour except for Fred Funk jumping around once in a while. Come to think of it neither Tiger or Fred are very much fun in the interview room...So while I was around I got a few ass shots of great looking PGA Tour groupies...LOL

Tiger is great, but his pressers are a drag. He HAD some potential to be interesting. When he first came out he would appear on Golf Talk Live and Academy Live (ahh....the good old days of TGC with Peter Kessler). There were usually some fun (compared to most other golfers) moments and some insight. Then came the GQ article and he clammed up for good.

Truthfully, I think there is a lot of over-reaction in general regarding Tiger. I wish we could just let him recover from his injury, work out the kinks in his swing and get back to just playing again. That will never happen though, everyone is convinced we "need" him to be interested in golf. Though, maybe I'm a bit weird: I'll watch when Tiger isn't playing and even find it a little refreshing to see others besides Tiger.

Yes Tiger is indeed a great golfer (keeping away its personal life). But might be he has reached his fall and should stay away from it.

The problem with the press conferences is not Tiger, but us as consumers and the press' need to accommodate us and the sales volume of their publication. Tiger, and those athletes who have something to say, would love to say something but are constrained by the silly questions and silly expectations, so they train themselves, or are trained, to speak in a very homogenous way in general terms.

Tiger would like to occasionally say something, but simply can't go down that road, to the chagrin of all of us who would love to get inside his head, even just a bit!

True.

I agree with the GQ screw over he got. He finally was letting loose a little and a scumbag reporter had to go gotcha on him. They never did that to Palmer or Mantle, they always covered and worshiped them. I would rather they cover the screw ups a little so we could get real opinions on stuff we care about

That's very true...the reporters would come up to you later and ask you if you meant to say (dopey remark) and they would delete it if you said no, that came out wrong. It was a mutual respect in the past. I see very little of that anymore.
