Tiger with club on head at PGA

Stevie putting club on Tiger's head to counter head movement. Looks like he is trying to limit head going back (Stack and Tiltish). But maybe he is trying to limit up and down bobbing or maybe both.

The head is not the center of the stroke.

There is no 'center' of the stroke.

It won't do any harm to try and keep it quiet however.

Mahan and O'hair both also said that Foley likes them to keep their head centered and not move all over the place. Tiger said he felt his was swaying "all over the place"
you have to wonder if Foley mentioned stable head to him in the practice round.

How much do tour players know about the golf swing? Enough to fix themselves? These guys are professionals, but do they know the golf swing as well as an instructor like Brian? I am curious as to what the people here think? Do tour players know the swing ? Why would they need a coach? Would'nt video do the job?

One would think that at their level they would all have a Trackman, AMM, and the best available video as standard equipment.

All of this nonsense tiger is doing it just evidence he really has no clue about the golf swing, his root problems, or the real ballflight laws for that matter. I see him hit certain shots and think to myself, what did you expect when he is puzzled by how bad he pull-hooked it after trying to beat down on the ball a ton; surprise surprise.

I think your totally off on that assumption. Lot's of instructors and top players know about the golf swing and use Trackman yet cannot fix their own swing problems and struggle from time to time. Even if you know, you still have to implement the changes.

I doubt Tiger achieved what he has by been lucky, he had instruction from an early age and listening to him and the instructors that have worked with him you can tell he knows about the golfswing. There's more going on then that in Tiger's life right now that just might be affecting his play on tour.

Most Tour players haven't got a clue about their swing or the golf swing in general. Some do but most don't. The ones that get themselves in trouble are the ones who have a little knowledge but think they know a lot........like me.

For Foley's sake I hope he has'nt been messing with it. What a tough job for an instructor. If Tiger came out now and said he has worked with Foley since May, everyone would criticize Foley. When Faldo went to Leadbetter to overhaul, no one knew about it until he won the Open in 1987. Different example as Faldo had not won a major yet, but in the day of instant results, I would agree to work with Tiger only on condition that he not reveal the relationship until he won. That way, your business does not get killed by one guy's failure. I know everyone wants to teach Tiger, but to me it is a thankless job. Wouldn't it be more gratifying to create the next Tiger?

So this is a ball flight understanding for Tiger?

I think he has some mechanical flaws in the grip and backswing. I will submit though I know very little compared to most around here.

I remember Haney telling Barkley that Tiger knew "a whole lot" about the golf swing. Considering the source of the praise, I wonder how much he really does know.

Oh, and that being considered, how much better is (was?) he better mentally than every other golfer on the planet.

Well...

Tiger would flunk the GTE test. No question.

I think that it is PURE SILLY-NESS that Tiger and Foley think they can fix the right shot with a high right shoulder.

And presumably, 80% of his weight on his left foot at impact.

Please...

Ok Lets email him the GTE test to: tiger@tigerwoods.com If we are lucky we will get his ghost writer to answer!

This raises a great new question: Which pros in your opinion would pass the GTE test?
