Tiger???

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this in here...everyone in golf (and their senile grandmother) seems to have an opinion on it...

What is wrong with Tiger's swing? or... is there anything wrong with Tiger's swing?

I wanna hear what you TGM guys think...

Is he making the right changes? I know many people here think Hank Haney should quit teaching and go drive a cab (so I'm guessing there will be some disagreement on what he's doing with Tiger...yes?no?).

Seems like tiger "has it" now but what i always thought was his problem was his too flat backswing and too fast pivot.

When your backswing is that flat you almost have a small OTT move to get the club to come downplane correctly OR you'll get stuck....this just goes for a normal golfer.

Imagine tiger not "transitioning" right with his hip speed?!

Seems like he has it under control now though, more power to him. The last few tournaments he's played he's looked really solid to me, go get em!

So what exactly is he doing differently now? I take it he is opening up the clubface more on the backswing...is that it?

I agree with jim_0068. I'll add this- around '02, Tiger started taking the club "outside" a little too much by pushing the butt end of the club away from his body on the takeaway. Doing this rotates the face open more, but it also often creates a flatter, more laid-off backswing that's also longer at the top, since the left thumb isn't under the shaft as much. Nothing wrong with that if you want to hit a fade, but if you're trying to hit a draw, it's fatal. Worse, the club can get behind you and "stuck" on the downswing. Lately, Tiger's been trying to keep the handle in more on the takeaway, which steepens the shaft just a touch (adjustments are very subtle for him- it's like fine-tuning a Ferrari). If you look at his shaft last year, it was pointed above the shaft plane line and outside the ball halfway up the backswing. This year, the shaft is pointed more at the ball, a la his great year of 2000.

Swing plane is very important with a player like Tiger who uses his body so forcefully. When he gets the adjustments right (and I think he will this year), he's near impossible to beat.

When you say the shaft is pointing at the ball do you mean from this view? (even though this is Price's downswing, not takeaway...)

So...is he actually fanning the clubface open more (swivel or w/e) or is he just taking the clubhead less to the outside?
