Tiger's Swing Makeover

It took Leadbetter 2 years to reconstruct Faldo's swing, and he admitted much of it was trial and error experimentation.

When I met Haney many years ago, he was using a hand manipulation approach to guiding golfers through the golfswing. I wonder if he did the same for Tiger.

In any event, these top pros are so hard-wired neuromuscularily into their childhood golfswing, it may take longer for them to convert their swing than it would for a recreational golfer ... pumping steel and graphite ....!

Don't be surprised if Tiger reverts back to his old swing habits when he is under extreme competitive stress ..... FORE TO THE RIGHT !!!!!

only problem is fore right is not tigers childhood swing. Tiger is a natural drawer of the ball. The fore right was a result of him working past some of the things that Harmon had him doing. During the Target event last week most of his misses were very minor and were small hooks. Sounds like he is getting closer to his natural move and i would expect a great year from him next year.

I'm curious to know if Brian has ever spoken with Tiger about his swing directly.

I see some of the results of a 'twist away' type move in his current motion. Not saying that is exactly how he is getting there, just that the results are the same and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Brian had worked with him.

Also, plenty of evidence of Brian's work on TGC. Both the "Go Girl Go" clip and some of the 'Daniels' tourney had evidence of Brian's articles.

No response to my previous question about who from TGC is on this board. Not surprised though.

Tiger's swing is really looking great IMO. Should be some excellent play in 05 if he can keep the putter going.

What was wrong with Tiger's "old" swing, which won him all those Majors? What has changed? Still looks like he is trying to crush the ball with his right side.

Tiger had hook issues when he was younger as most kids do.

His swing looks real good now and is just taking beautiful divots. He seems to be working down through the ball more than he did before.

Tiger's backstroke has slowed, his tempo is better now?
Over the last couple of years he seemed to be getting quicker and quicker.

Read Diaz's article--it's all in there.

The Diaz article is great....there should be more of that type in GD..I guess Tiger's left knee could not hold up to the tremendous torque of his younger days...of particular note, is that no longer takes it back outside, but more inside..and it was noticeable at the Target...man, was he swinging good!!...I'm not the biggest Tiger fan, but the game needs him back in top form....props to Tiger for having the guts to tinker with a "world class" game..

Nothing was "wrong" with his old swing. If the article is accurate,it seems Tiger is trying to create a longer "flat spot" through impact which will enable him to play his best golf more frequently. He said only Moe Norman and Ben Hogan truly "owned" their swings. He wants to own his as well.I for one hope he succeeds.2005 might be an exciting year.
