Today I became the machine.

Brian and Ragman, I would like to thank you both for your imput and comments not only to me directly but to the other members of the forum. TGM can be overwhelming. There are huge amounts of data and then the data has more data, and references and variations etc. etc. What turned the trick was Ragman's position at the top of his swing and then his position around chest high. Both the club and the back of his left hand were a bit to the flat side. Bingo. Bingo. Bingo. I made my pivot so my left shoulder was over my right knee. Put my left hand in that same position with the butt of the club pointing to the plane and allowed gravity to take over from there. I dropped my hands in the power slot and suddenly I had the feel of TGM!

As they say, pictures are worth a thousand words. They are a great reference whether you making a full swing like Mike or a 3/4 swing like myself.

Glad to hear about your new found success...

For the last 6 years, I've been a range rat searching for the magic incredients to produce a swing that's simple and close to perfection. So I started from scratch with (big mistake) Dalton. I figured that any swing system with both words and video could help my game. The truth is that many systems fit only the person hawking their product. Tiger's book had Tiger's swing. The same with Jack and Ben Hogan.
TGM provided a truly generic approach.
There's just the machine and the ball. The average golfer provides the juice.
This forum (Brian and desciples) and the book work really well together. At first, it seemed like the TGM followers were from a different planet who spoke in code. Having read the book about 5 times and now having developed the feel of the machine, I understand where everyone is coming from.
I want to point out the swing keys and graphics that helped the most.
First, Ragman's forum and the pictures of Mike.
(Club chest high, flat left wrist, butt of the club pointing to the target line.)
Secondly, the secondary axis tilt and ukhacker's comment:
"Feel the left shoulder staying almost motionless and your right shoulder going down".

Thanks again for all your comments and advice.
If I'm not talking I'm listening.
Make a good swing–The ball just gets in the way!

Swing Guru,
That is perhaps the best post I have ever read. Keep up the good work you will be rewarded!
Your point about TGM being generic is priceless, I know alot of people including many on this forum and others who need to remember that point.
There is no the way, there is only a my way!
Three imperatives!

Good Luck,

Todd

Yes I'm still going and right at the target. Keys: Stay loose and relaxed, keep the clubhead low and slow, top of the backswing for me is chest high, flat left wrist, bent right wrist, butt of the club points to the target line and let gravity take over from there. The less effort I put into the stroke the better the results. I scarry how dead straight to the target the ball flies.

Anywhere the ragman posts you can log on to his forum.

Clubhead LOW and slow??

Expalin please.

I don't make a conscious effort to pick it up. I allow the pivot to bring the club to the top. A centrifugal swing around to 90 degrees. After all, the machine doesn't have hands either! It seems to be "The Way" for me. Shot 75 on the obstacle course this weekend. Including a chip-in par and 3 birdies. I call it the obstacle course because the landing area for drives varies from 5 to 20 yds, the greens are shallow and elevated. You need pinpoint accuracy and distance control.

No hands?
No hands on the backswing. Very conscious of hand position (flat left wrist, bent right wrist and butt fo club pointing to target line) on the down swing.
