Too inside(part 2) : An update post CFF

The following is an update from my post 9-28-2007 entitled "Too Inside".

I studied Confessions of a Former Flipper as well as comments from the original post (including BM).

To my thinking the swing change that has occurred has eliminated the pesky flip!

I now sense:
1) The butt end of the club moving toward target post impact
2) Less "stalling" of the pivot rotation
3) A separation, or extension, of the arms away from the body immediately post impact.

Thank you BM et al.

Casting vs. Flipping

It looks like you've done a nice job of eliminating the flip, Mew. I hope you don't mind if I use your swing as an example to ask a question of Brian or one of the Manzella Academy instructors, though.

As Mew approaches impact, the angle between his right forearm and the clubshaft is fairly wide (looks to be about 120 degrees). My understanding is that this angle should not be much wider than 90 degrees at this point. Anything wider constitutes clubhead throwaway, or casting. Is that understanding correct? And does this illustrate a difference between casting and flipping? Are they two separate, albeit somewhat related, problems?

Thanks,
CC

Indeed throwaway

I agree with you. To my thinking in this low swing speed example there was little inertial weigh shift (i.e. poor pivot) that elicited a strong tendency to permit club head throwaway.
