Too much axis tilt causing blocks/hooks?

I was watching the 4th Manzella youtube show today, which was great, where you were talking about getting the right shoulder to go towards the right hip with axis tilt so the club gets down on the right path. Which is great for slicers, but I have the opposite problem, I do too much of that. When I block a ball right or hit a hook I can feel a lot of axis tilt going on and I can't (or maybe just don't) get enough rotation going to make a nicely timed turn through the ball and start the ball down the target line. Maybe all of these problems are a result of a closed clubface, like the reverse situation of a slicer, or maybe I just need a better or more consistent motion. How do I do this without starting to swing like some kind of hacking slicer?:D

Here are some pics of my grip:

I think I just figured out that too much axis tilt is not the problem as much as me being too much around and not enough up with my arms on the backswing. This results in too much of an inside track for me coming through because I can't do an over the top move well. So basically I think about havinga more upright backswing with the arms while still making a full turn with the body, Nicklaus style I guess. Good idea?
