Too much emphasis on Hand Position

Had a great day at the range today. I have really been struggling with the driver and have been working diligently to make sure my wrist was flat at impact. However, I kept hitting low hooks, without much carry. An observer told me I was worrying too much about impact and need to just make sure I made a full swing into a high finish. Bingo, all of a sudden, I started hitting beautiful drives down the middle. Seemed like all of a sudden I had a much more free swing. So my question is, Should you focus on creating good impact position, or is good impact position a by product of a well executed swing??

Brian, I assume Homer was pointing out that a flat left wrist was something that needed to occur in a good swing, not something you need to make happen. When swinging I don't think about it.

I have the same problem.I have tried to arch my left wrist through impact but i just smother the ball to the left.I play with a strongish grip.

I think when you try to supinate through impact there is a natural tendency to have the left wristbone facing the target, thereby closing the clubface if you have a strong grip.I may have wrongly thought previously that going from bent to arch closes the clubface.

Brian, can you give me a little more detail on the three stations? Or at least refer me to where in the Golfing Machine it is discussed?

Thanks
