Top of right shoulder

I am confused as to the path of the top right shoulder follows in the down swing. If I laid a laser on top of my right shoulder pointing directly away from my neck what line would it trace on the ground through the downswing and on into the follow through? I am right handed.

When I look at pro swings it almost seems to be inside the ball. Any ideals.

in a perfect world, the right shoulder should point at the plane line. but depending on the shot your are trying to hit, you may need a different feel. i.e., if you are a slicer, you may need to feel it coming more inside the plane line, and if you hook it you may need to feel it stays more on top of the plane to assist in swinging left.

Take your Driver and lay it across your shoulder line with the club head extended out beyond your right shoulder. Hold it there and then address your golf ball as normal.

Now, make a back swing pivot and then, on the down swing, drive the club head down, out and towards the ball.

That should give you an idea as to how the right shoulder functions efficiently in a reasonable golf swing.
