Trackman data questions

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

So I get some time on a TM to check my driver numbers since I have been driving it really badly. After a few swings with my driver, its obvious that I am hitting down on it consistently, usually around 1.5 to 2.5 degrees. Of course, the spin is off the charts. So, my local pro adjusts my set up to get more axis tilt (feeling of my front shoulder not being so open). Move the ball back a touch, as it was up off of my front toe. Within a few swings, I am hitting up on it 1.5 to 4 degrees.

My question is if I am hitting up on it, how am I still spinning it over 3K? My SS was around 102-104 with a ball speed of around 150- 153. What can I do to keep the spin down?

Also, with the new setup, should my swing "feel" more flat?

Sounds like the static loft of your driver needs to be reduced if you're going to keep the same general swing. Even the most low spin shafts can only drop 300-500 rpms in my experience. I'm hitting the ball farther and straighter this year (20-30 yards farther). How? I've dropped my spin down which improves my accuracy and distance. More spin = more curvature with constant laungh conditions.

Hit a 5* driver for fun and try to curve it! Very hard with swingspeeds less than 120 mph+ (unless you use gear effect).

Get fitted for a driver on Trackman. Changes your game.

Thanks for the replies!
Well, I started off launching the ball at around 9. With the setup change, launch went up to 12-13.
I was hitting ProV1 practice balls and the driver that I was getting the best numbers with was the 910 D3 with a 70 gram Project X Stiff.
What determines spin? How do I reduce it?

Spin Loft = Angle of Attack + Dynamic Loft

Dynamic Loft = Delivered Loft +- Vertical Gear Effect

So to reduce spin, you need a lower Spin Loft.

How?

Hit up more (you did) + De-Loft the Driver while doing it (don't know if you tried).

If you tried, and still too much spin, you need to hit it higher on the face to reduce gear effect spin.

When Brian does these backyard videos, he reminds me so much of my Dad (RIP) that it almost brings tears to my eyes. Great stuff ... thanks for re-posting.

Mike,
Thanks for posting up the video!
I took the idea of hitting up with the handle working back in to the course today with some mixed results. I did hit a couple of high draws that seemed to be tumbling with overspin. The ugly ones where hooks, which I imagine were the result of poor sequencing.
The really good results were with my irons. Definitely flatter into the ball, small divots with short iron and brushing the grass with the longer clubs. Also, my old distances are back so I wasn't wondering why my eight iron was only going 140.
Brian, thanks again for the info and having the best instructional site on the web!
