I have been reading the Trackman threads with interest but I was wondering if someone could explain how it is actually helping you change your swing and what changes are you making.
Also, with the changes, are you swinging completely differently?

I had a Trackman session the other day.
It was very helpful because it reinforced some of what I feel in my swing.

The results are consistent path. Kevin may have the numbers saved, not sure.

Limited clubface control.

We changed my left hand grip and worked on Tumbling the clubface.
The Tumble part was a continuation of what Brian had me working on at the end of last season. The grip part was my inquiring about wearing out my glove where the left hand thumb touches the grip. I think my flatter VSP is related to this but just a guess.

As much as my issue is clubface control I feel that the root cause is pivot related.

Anyone questioning whether or not to go through a Trackman session should first seek out someone that knows the numbers and what they represent.

You can break down a Trackman session anyway you want. If you hit a group of balls with every club in the bag. You'll notice some things. You'll see either consistent or not s consistent ball flight. Or consistent but inferior ball flight (i.e.; too much spin, bad gaps in clubs, too low or high lunch, etc). Or you can check club delivery. Either way, you look to find the weak or weakest link, or number.

My first time on Trackman I thought I had a little something good going but learned I had too much left and too much down in my swing. The swing plane was to low. So I had a leftward dragged club that had too much downward attack. That sent me in the correct direction to make sure I was changing the right things.

Matt came in and was swinging beautifully and made a dozen swings with a mid iron and never had a path that was outside 1 degree of zero. But his face went from 3 degrees closed to degrees open. There starts the search for why. Zero debate on what the problem was. How to fix it becomes the important part, no doubt, but sometimes the golfer can fix it himself armed wit that info.

Exact same thing for me when I hit at GTE. Three shots with exact same club path of +0.4 but face.......

Been thinking about it all winter.

Today, I'm one huge step closer.

1. Figured out how to get the left hand on the club properly.

2. Tumbled the club from transiton

3. By getting the left hand grip more on top I can now expose more of the clubface to the ball and was able to get the sole of the club flat on the ground after impact.

4. I was able to get the whole leading edge into the back of the ball with more right
arm/hand force across the shaft.

Thanks Brian and Kevin!

Can I get some ideas about how you're doing some of these?

1. Are you working on the strong left hand and weak right? If you are, how does the grip affect the twistaway--do you feel you need less?
2. Can you explain the tumble and how it feels?

Club face control is being difficult for me and I'm trying to find a way to have it as "automatic" as I can. I'd love to get with Kevin or Brian and get on a Trackman, but unfortunately can't at this time.

1. Are you working on the strong left hand and weak right?
I wouldn't say the new left hand grip is strong, it is just more heel pad on top with more pressure on the last three fingers and which helps establish more left hand thumb pressure which is something I never ever had before. I don't really fell like my right hand is weak but by pop definition some might say it is. The right hand just fits in better now and if I want I can feel #3 in the waggle and at other times during the motion.

If you are, how does the grip affect the twistaway--do you feel you need less?
For me the twistaway doesn't feel any different with the new left hand grip. If anything the new left hand grip allows the hands to locate a spot at the top much easier. I can control the amount of left wrist cock now much more than before. It is a very secure and powerful feel in the hands.
Securing the hands on the club so they feel more like an extension of the arms and club is another thing I noticed after the grip changes. Maybe this is a big part of clubface control?

2. Can you explain the tumble and how it feels?
I can feel the out part (clubhead/clubface) of the down-out-forward direction of the downswing now.

Obviously the above info is all my "FEEL" based information and everyones's feel system is different but maybe it will help someone.

As far as Brian's descriptions of his information and how he describes components of the swing I have found many of his to be very helpful with my swing improvements. There are tons of gold nugget information in this forum and on the videos, you just have to be patient and look.

Thanks Matt this helps some.

I definitely enjoy the information given here and don't really even read any other sites as Brian and this site has truly improved my game.
