Sergio has a great swing but putts awful...Chris Couch is a big dude and can pound the ball...Scott Stallings a guy I know nothing about had one of the best sounding strikes on the ball I heard all day...Rose looked as if the pressure was getting to him, made some mental mistakes...Watney's swing was impressive though he played poorly today...players seemed to avoid Johnny Miller on the range...Woodland has a nice game...Most every player teed the ball pretty low with driver but it was fairly breezy...Something seemed a bit different with Martin Lairds swing, couldn't quite put my finger on it...Webb Simpson has a nice swing and a nice game.

Just curious, what is it about Webb Simpson's swing you like? Its gettin the results but he didnt hit a shot in the last 5 holes. Looks like hes trying to get it over with a quickly as possible.

Funny you mention Stallings. I have been doing statistical analysis on the PGA Tour and the part of the game that has the biggest influence on score on the PGA Tour is Proximity to the Cup from 175-225 yards away. You can actually be in the top 10 in this category for the year and be an awful putter and would still be *likely* to keep your card.

So last week I took a look at who is leading in this stat this year.....Scott Stallings.

I think Gary Woodland can drive a ball farther than I can drive a cart.

Do you think a former hardcourter doesn't already know the "run up and jump"? It's what we do. :)

It's the "stand still and lean left" that we have trouble with.

On a mildly unrelated note, anyone know if the #4 seed from the East bracket made it to the Sweet 16?

Watching Gary Woodland hit a two iron 285 yards on 18 shows the game they play is nothing like the game I play. Great tempo, great putter, fun to watch.

I watched Webb warm up and he had a nice action through the ball (of course most tour guys do). On seven he hit a drive right next to where I was standing and was blocked out by a tree, it was probably ten yards right of the fairway. He talked the shot options over with his caddie and decided to hit a low cut around the tree and run the ball up the gap and executed it exactly, he seemed in control of his game. I also liked his putting stroke. I didn't see him much on the last few holes so nerves might have gotten to him, I believe that was his first time in contention.

No doubt he is a stud, his putting was unbelievable, only time will tell if he is really that good of a putter our just a great day with the flat stick.
