Ok, this is a major missing piece for me....

Have figured out, when I make my shift, I don't start the hip turning left almost immediately after.

I'd appreciate insights on how to get that hip turning/opening after the shift/weight goes to left leg.

Bill in the past we both have the same issues. I`ve been trying for 2 yrs to get it right(the right timing). I tried everything but what I have found recently that finally is working is this. Get you hands in the right position with ever you do your take away. Once there you HAVE to bump your LEFT hip toward the ball and this puts me in the right position to be BEHIND the ball and I start my arms(hands) down while keeping my head still behind the ball ( I couldnt do this without sliding my l.hip BEFORE ). Your hip will turn left on its own as long as you follow tru. Mostly what this did for me, cause I had trouble getting to the left side slidding my left hip gets me to the left leg. So far its working great It works for me dont know if it will work for you. If anyone thinks that me doing this this way will hurt me please advise....joe

interesting... you get a free pivot when you swing the arms but for me, I focus on straightening the left knee and and everything kinda "snaps" at impact. I guess your way is working for you so thats great but for max speed at impact I don't know.....and for some strange reason once I started doing this accuracy improved

I'll bet anything theres an over acceleration issue. The clubhead has to be outracing the core if he knows to clear the hip but doesnt.

Brian did an excellent post that may help you, but the problem is I can't remember the thread name.

He was asked by a member to explain the pivot action in 100 words or less, or something to that effect. In it he described the forces at work from the waist down with the left and right feet.

I am paraphrasing of course, but that was the jist. The key is finding that post.

Anyone else, remember?????

With your weight centered, use the left leg to help you push the weight OFF of that foot as you make a sharp turn of the right hip. FALL and SQUAT into your left leg. Using the ground, push UP off of that FOOT as your right hip moves TOWARD IT. Use this motion to get your left shoulder as FAR FROM THE BALL YOU CAN at impact. Keeping your hips left and your head back, let the motion of your arms PULL YOU to a FINISH with your right foot SPUN UP on the toe and your KNEES TOUCHING.

Tong to the rescue!

This is awesome stuff, my favorite being:

FALL and SQUAT into your left leg. Using the ground, push UP off of that FOOT as your right hip moves TOWARD IT.

Bill, I hope this helps.

sounds like that stack and tilt move. doesn't this "falling" and "pushing up" turn into Tiger's huge head drop and bob with driver that causes him to hit big blocks if overdone?

This 100-word pivot description is one of the best and most useful nuggets of golf instruction I have ever come across.

Well....

I appreciate all the feedback.

Over accel is something I struggle with...because I add power from the upper body...which I am fighting.

I had one of my best ball striking days every yesterday....trying to focus on the left hip turn after the shift. I really hit the long irons well. I kept thinking "skip the stone". Funny, the counterfall almost felt like I was falling backwards...in a way. Does that sound correct?

Lots to digest here. Thanks again!

You mentioned this in another thread. No disrespect whatsoever, but could you explain why you think this would cause a block?

I don't think this move and stack and tilt are on the same continent let alone zip code. I could be missing something.

It is descriptive of Tiger's move IMO. I figured it out recently and it is taking my game to a new level.
