Not only that, but it appears that Earl got out of the way and let the pros do their job. Rarely do you hear anyone complain about Earl Woods, the way they complain about the Wies, or any other seemingly overbearing sports parents. It seems Earl prepared Tiger to go out and do his thing.
That said, the situations are different in that Tiger wasn't playing the professional schedule that Wie played at a similar age, so it's hard to say how he would have handled things.
I followed her group a couple holes at the 84 Lumber Classic a couple years ago. Her parents were watching, but not any more than any interested parent. I even spoke to her father at one point, he seemed very nice. I think the conspiracy nuts are way overblown on this one.
There are a lot of ways to succeed in golf, and in life. Hogan didn't win till later in life - does someone want to try to make the case he wasn't a success?
Here's hoping she wins soon, for her sake, and to get the infinite critics, most of whom have never competed at any sort of high level, off her back.
I'm starting to cheer for her again. I was originally a fan of her's, but got tired of her donking up PGA tour events. The hype machine created her, and destroyed her. Hopefully she will get her groove, and will save the LPGA. Her talent is undeniable. I would suggest that she goes back to Gary Gilchrist.
I think that everyone should shut up about her parents. If you are not privy to the inner workings of her family or culture, then shut up!!!
