Unbelievable

Was just looking on another site that had pix from this weeks LPGA stop. There is one series where Wie is practicing and both her parents are directly behind under an umbrella watching. So creepy.

I saw her practice at the us womens amateur in Erie Pa, at the Kahkwa club, a great old Donald Ross course. My parent's house is off the range and she and Leadbetter were working for hours, with Dad in a cart watching. I still think her tempo is great. If she would be left alone, she will end up a great player. She is over coached, over parented and I hope she dominates the lpga, they need her to win a lot of tournaments.

I think it's only a matter of time before she breaks away from her parents, and I don't think it will happen under the most pleasant of circumstances. She has to realize that with her talent she can easily provide for herself. I'm sure the invasive parenting is a source of concern in other parts of her life as well.

It's pretty sickening to me when parents try to profit off their children. As far as I'm concerned Mr. Wie has ruined his daughter's childhood. I know that sounds melodramatic, but she never seems happy or internally driven to me. Daddy's had a gun to her head for years and I think soon he's going to reap what he's sown. I hope so anyways. If I was her I'd cut him off.

Whats with you guys?

Can you please help me to understand your point of view by explaining precisely how Earl Woods assistance and support of Tiger differed from the assistance and support that Michelle Wie is getting from her father?

Not only that, but it appears that Earl got out of the way and let the pros do their job. Rarely do you hear anyone complain about Earl Woods, the way they complain about the Wies, or any other seemingly overbearing sports parents. It seems Earl prepared Tiger to go out and do his thing.

That said, the situations are different in that Tiger wasn't playing the professional schedule that Wie played at a similar age, so it's hard to say how he would have handled things.

there is a lot to learning how to win at progressive levels. wie won the publinx but thats about it.

Butch Harmon does a pretty good job of breaking down the Woods/Wie parenting style in his book "The Pro". Main point was that Earl made sure that Tiger learned how to win and then dominate at each level before advancing to the next level. Once Tiger signed on with Butch, Earl agreed not to interfere with instruction and Butch agreed not to interfere with the father/son relationship.

I saw her at Lead's the week before tour school.. Parents all over her. Dad kept track of every shot she hit: putt#32 - long left. Drive #3 low left. Mom was never more than 10 feet away and didn't say a word for the hour I watched.

She really is a kid though. That's good to see..

I have a pic.. how do i post it?

Earl didn't make Tiger play in any pro Lady events! Seriously playing in mens events was not Michelles decision alone (especially when she starting playing poorly).

I just hope it does not turn out like Jennifer Capriati. I do not think it will, but would not be shocked.

I saw her at the Hunt Club in Ottawa last year. Her swing looks amazing. She really struggled with her chipping though.

This lady was permanently with her for the entire time. I presume her mother.

I followed her group a couple holes at the 84 Lumber Classic a couple years ago. Her parents were watching, but not any more than any interested parent. I even spoke to her father at one point, he seemed very nice. I think the conspiracy nuts are way overblown on this one.

There are a lot of ways to succeed in golf, and in life. Hogan didn't win till later in life - does someone want to try to make the case he wasn't a success?

Here's hoping she wins soon, for her sake, and to get the infinite critics, most of whom have never competed at any sort of high level, off her back.

when tiger was younger, people though earl was a drill sargeant like sean ohair's dad turned out to actually be

I'm starting to cheer for her again. I was originally a fan of her's, but got tired of her donking up PGA tour events. The hype machine created her, and destroyed her. Hopefully she will get her groove, and will save the LPGA. Her talent is undeniable. I would suggest that she goes back to Gary Gilchrist.

I think that everyone should shut up about her parents. If you are not privy to the inner workings of her family or culture, then shut up!!!
