Weak Fades with driver

Hoping I can some tips here on this problem that has come out of nowhere with my driver. I've always been able to drive the ball fairly straight and usually around 230-270 but out of nowhere about two weeks ago no matter what I do I hit a weak fade no more than 200 yards. Its not a terrible slice but it's very frustrating and I can not for the life of me stop it at this point. Any ideas?

There lots of ways to hit a weak fade. I fight mine off by:

- making sure I have a soft left arm/elbow so my follow thru is on the same plane as the downswing.
- making sure I do not straighten up (out of my set-up spine angle) as I near impact.

Thanks. I'm also having a similar problem with my fairway woods off the ground as well. Don't know if this will help, as it may be the same problem I'm experience with my drives, but I've had several times over the last two weeks with my woods where I'll almost miss the ball just hitting the top of it and dribbiling to the left. When I do make contact it's the same weak fade to the right.

No where near as knowledgeable as others on here, but could it possibly be your ball position has moved a bit to forward?

Ahh, The weak 200 yd slice, my old friend. I would suggest this, hold the driver out in front you, like bman does in the building blocks video, hope thats doesnt get me in trouble. hold driver in front of you, setup, and take it to your backs swing and then bring it back to impact posisition s-l-o-w-l-y. Look and sense the movement of your swing. Now do the same thing, but this time bend a little at the waist. Now this last time bend down to your normal set up, but still do it s-l-o-w-l-y. The reason is this from my view the the swing looks different at these three levels, waist high, a little lower than waist high and adress, but I like the view, look and fell from waist high, it really gives me a better reference as what I want to do, which is, club head gets closer to me on the backs swing, club head get farther away from me on the down swing. I know this happens on the real swing, but I really sense it more for me when I practice the waits high and what ever shot I trying to produce I do the movements from the waist high practice swing and now I like my driver again yay! I liked the waist high practice move so much I use it as my practice routine before every shot, I cant thank Bman enough for his videos, they have changed the way I practice and play. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the help guys. I have the feeling in my swings that i'm cutting across the ball from the outside and lifitng up too early especially considering the fact that I'm almost completely wiffing with my fairway woods. Is that possible?

My new term. Swing breaking (your problem) Guessing you are not following thru.......resolve applying more force behind the shaft then infront. Using your Hips and or Right shoulder and or left arm as guides behind the shaft, you can use these forces to push more then pull. The hips out of sync can cause this. Basically your pull and push forces are off total guess ....no video. Scientisfically wrong, but feel vs real. Everyone is different.

Chewitt, your weak fade sounds similar to what happened to me a couple of years ago. On my own I tried to make a bunch of changes to my swing on my own to improve my consistency - mainly trying to minimize wrist action in my swing and trying to have my body rotation square the clubface. In doing so, I lost my natural "release" and ended up getting really steep and OTT trying to square my clubface. I lost a lot of power (which was really apparent in my driver, fairway woods and long irons), though I was able to play a fairly consistent baby fade (my handicap actually dropped from 18 to 10). I bought Never Slice Again 2 two years ago but really didn't try the techniques until the end of last season and the beginning of this season. The twistaway move and wedding ring up are the two moves that are really helping regain my natural release. Another piece of the puzzle for me was realizing that I was roundhousing with my shoulders - so I worked on my transition - slight lateral move to the left and getting my right shoulder to drop down plane. I am slowly feeling like my swing is coming together - much better low point control which means fewer fat shots, hitting mostly draws or straight shots and more power without swinging harder. I haven't played too much this spring here in Boston - work/family stuff is keeping off the course - but I'm feeling like I'm heading in the right direction. Good luck. This site is a real wealth of information and knowledge but I would strongly recommend that you buy NSA2 as Brian lays out ten or so different techniques that can help slicers (of which you may only need one or several).
