Weight distribution within feet at address

Just wondering where people like to feel the weight in their feet at address. I know the Golfing Machine recommends weight towards the heels in order to counter the out toward the ball motion in the downswing. I've found with some students that that causes them to get the arms too far behind them in the backswing.

Jim McLean wrote in "The Eight-Step Swing" that in his interviews with the pro's that they had the feeling of the weight just in front of the ankles. Lead' and his staff are very keen on weight further fwd in the balls of the feet (I personally feel as though I'm going to fall over from there). And maybe depending on the shot it might change. Any thoughts?

I have been putting my weight too far towards the heels with too much knee bend apparently.

I knew it was different from any pro you'd basically ever see.......but up until recently any effort to change this and make it more orthodox just made me hit it worse. I figured maybe I was just built differently or w/e......cause I could still hit it pretty good the way I was doing it.

In trying to bend over I think I'd hunch over too much and still with too much knee bend.

But now I am doing a LOT better with it.

For me at this point I've found a lot of initial success with:

1. "Ben Doyle style" (I do believe....that it makes sense to call it that...) address routine.....i.e. right foot first, etc. etc.

2. Making sure my hands aren't too high. I just let em hang. (may need to get irons flattened now)

3. I still like to "bounce" on my heels to find that "sweet spot".....but now I make sure I really make an effort to actually stick my ass OUT instead of just squatting. This I think makes me bend from the hips and improves my posture in general. I still end up with weight on the heels......but not as much as before.....and not as much of a "squat" or a "sitting down." (i.e. lots of knee bend and ass not sticking out...heh....)

Haven't seen it on video but right now I like to think of Adam Scott cause he's a very obvious example. (I just try to make sure I don't stick my neck out like a turtle)

This all seems to have been very important and seems to be what I was missing whenever I'd try to bend over more. (I'd end up "slouched" or "hunched" over the ball too much with too much knee bend)

Hope that helps. I am still tweaking BTW.
