Weight on backswing

Weight PRESSURE on the inside of the right foot. At the top, if you lift your left foot, you should fall toward the target.

Where does/should your weight end up when you complete your backswing? On your heel?

A complicated question.

IMO, if you look at many of the great players, they've already moved into their left side even before they've completed their backswing. This is also known as the transition.

Brady Riggs says that at address your weight is on your toes, but when you get to the top you should be able to lift your toes (or weight is on the heels). This seems OK and would dovetail with what David Lee (gravity golf) calls a 'counterfall.'

What you DON'T want are the hips sliding about underneath you. Many players with poor pivots have a faulty foundation.

I don't agree with this. You are being faked out by "slow eyes" in my opinion. The main reason why it LOOKS like good players are starting the downswing before the backswing is finished is because the shaft is bending which makes it APPEAR that it happened that way.

Jim,

what I've been looking at is the movement of the head prior to the club coming to rest at the top of the swing. This is a very subtle move, but from what I've seen, many (if not all) good players do it. It happens so quickly, though, that is certainly can feel like you are swinging to the top 'pausing' and then swinging down.

In Ben Hogan's five fundamentals, he states while the club head and shoulders are still going back the hips should start turning for downswing.

EXACTLY....IT'S A FEEL!

You are "feeling" both the stressing of the shaft and the "sit down" move.
