Weight on front foot?

Say I read something that suggested I keep my weight on my front foot and tried it and hit the ball further and far more solid than before what might that tell me about my current swing? Possibly I wasn't getting to my left side enough before?

sg,
perhaps you were getting your weight outside your right foot and now you are transferring just enough weight to the inside of the right foot rather than outside it. it might just feel like you're keeping the weight on the left. i would suggest that you have someone look at your swing or video it for you.

SG-
I am a swayer, and it is working for me, too. I think as long as I keep it as a " feels like", and don't get into the position in the big pic @ top of backswing, it'll be good!

What part of Manzella Academy Only don't you people get. He asked for the pros opinion, leave it sitting for staff.

Honestly did not notice the Manzella only, saw the reply and went with it. Forgive my inexcusable ignorance.

I say, good for you.

The ball only knows what the club is doing...

The ball only knows what the club is doing...

The ball only knows what the club is doing...

The ball only knows what the club is doing...

The ball only knows what the club is doing...

The ball only knows what the club is doing...

So...the CLUB must be doing something better, which is good.

Do it.

But, I could have gotten you to do it any NUMBER of other ways.

There's no doubt in my mind you could have fixed me a number of different ways. I just wondered what I might learn from this to apply to my current swing. Maybe I was setting up with the weight to far back as weight on the front foot is the only thing I've done different. Do you setup with your weight centered on all shots or do you setup with weight getting closer to the front foot as the clubs get smaller? Thanks

This is a pro's opinion?

Some pro opinion: "The ball only knows what the club is doing"? Yeah, this is the kind of insight only a pro would know, LOL, rubbish!
Thanks Brian and Flog, that quote and 50 cents will get you a cup of coffee, maybe.:)

I didn't ask for your truly insightful opinion.

Welcome FlaPro!

You really need to understand the depth of what I said.

This "new idea' of having your weight centered—or even moving slightly left—on the backswing is getting a lot of attention.

As if the new body positions were the REASON for the improvement of SOME who have tried it.

Baloney!

They just got the club to perform better.

And that's is CENTRAL to what I teach with my "Manzella Matrix" :

Using body position, arm postion, and esp. hand position to influence the CLUB ALIGNMENTS through impact. And TOTALLY CUSTMIZE it for the golfer. Utilize the straight-line Matrix Pattern extremes to "capture" the student into alignments that improve them right away, and allow for future upgrades.

Seems like a simple idea, huh?

But, trust me, nobody else is doing it.

Brian:
When I was starting golf 45 years ago, a local pro was trying to teach me to hit the ball first with irons. He berrated me over and over for not being able to do it. I went to the range for a few days and discovered on my own that I was swaying off center--that was the reason I couldn't hit down on the ball. Once I began to stay centered over the ball with irons, I began to hit the purest irons and to this day, my iron play is crisp, long and effortless.
I use a version of this "centeredness" with woods as well and stay very stable from below the waist which allows me to coil and unleash effortless long drives and fairway woods even at my age.
Moral of the story: Its not what teachers tell you, its what they forget to tell you and take for granted. Present company excepted of course.
Thanks for your reply.
