I say an out-in swing with an open face. Why do people saying in-out? Because the ball goes right they automatically think the path was pointing right?
In-out path causes toe shots. Out-in swing causes heel shots.
Out-in swing causes shank. But what causes out-in swing? Open clubface. So shank is combination of open face and out-in path.
I would like some explanation from those who believe in-out swing causes shank.
My definition of shank is any shot that is hit off the hosel. It doesn't have to go right, so none of this "you can't shank it with a closed face." Sure, closed face promotes in-out swing to keep to hitting more towards to the toe to prevent the shank, but it is possible to hit the hosel with a closed face as long as you swinging out-in.
