What compensations are needed for Lagging Clubhead Takeaway

So I'm still swinging with the lagging clubhead takeaway, using Clampett's idea of four inches in front of the ball. I'm sizzling the ball, and I've completely lost my leakage hook. Only problem is now I noticed a slight tendency to leave the face open.

Jim/Brian/anyone, what are the compensations you would recommend for lagging clubhead takeaway, ie:closed face, etc...

thanks

Compensations aren't necessary, CORRECT PROCEDURE IS. ;)

ANYWAY there 2 things you can do to help this:

1) Make sure you let the #3pp SET before you start the downswing. It should feel like you are "catching" the sweet spot with your #3pp and then you just pivot down to the ball.

2) FEEL like the #3pp is more BEHIND the shaft in the takeaway

Those should help.

Or a stronger grip.

Or a stronger grip.

Nothing wrong with a stronger grip.

But, with the better, more distinct change-of-direction that the LAGGING CLUBHEAD TAKEAWAY usually helps create, the SWEETSPOT tends to move more toward open for a variety of reasons.

Staying behind it, or getting behind it (at some point) IS the answer, and this can be accomplished with a stronger grip, but if your grip is fine, then I'd teach you to rotate your #3 pressure point BACK behind the sweetspot.
