What does "release" feel like?

For a swinger, that is. Lately I've been mainly focusing on maintaining my impact alignments once they are set, while making sure that my arms are only going downward in the downswing (like many hackers, I had the tendency to try to hit out at the ball with my arms from the top). I then try to envision my left arm/wrist/club acting as a flail, with my turning hips and torso pulling the club which is seeking to get in line with my left arm (at least, that is how Tomasello describes the "law of the flail" in his video series). Actually, I've been striking the ball better, but I guess I've been expecting some feeling during release. Like, everything is all built up and then, "POW", release/impact. However, it doesn't feel like that at all. It feels like my rotating hips are just dragging the club through impact. Is this how it's supposed to feel, or am I missing something during that "magical moment" of release?

You should feel "some roll" due to the horizontal hinge...you should also feel and HEAR the ball compress better, get that sizzle as we call.

Also, you are doing something right because that "Dragging" feeling is what you want.

Keep at it!

This is exactly the feeling I have. Well in my case, the chi center pulling/rotating/dragging the sweetspot through the ball.

Actually, I guess I do sense some roll there, but it doesn't feel like a quick action - of course, given the fact that the downswing lasts only a fraction of a second, I'm sure it really *is* a quick action - it feels somewhat gradual. Should it feel like that, or should it be more of a quick feeling, like the roll is causing the clubhead to "shoot out"?
