What Tiger's playing partner had to say...

I don't know whether he mailed it in, or just played badly, however, you have to wonder how motivated he is at this point in his life. I'm sure everything with his wife and kids kind of put things in perspective, is winning golf tournaments really that important in the whole scheme of things for him right now. He's got all the money he would ever need, and I'm sure he's not happy about his family situation and is concerned about spending time with his kids.

No doubt he screwed up and has no one to blame but himself, but he may never be as focused as he once was when golf was all that mattered to him.

I didnt read anything negative into those comments. Simply stated that the round didnt get Tiger's attention once it went south. Whats the big deal? Typical 24 hour media making something out of nothing.

Tiger probably feels as if he has no real incentive to grind out top-10s, although doing so would probably help him get back in the groove. To me he looks like he's just trying to hit pretty golf shots so he can twirl the club and grab the putter from Stevie. He should be embarassed by his behavior on the course. It shocks me that he has the balls to claim he's a Buddhist. Half the world is scrabbling for bread scraps and he can't even crack a smile on the course. If I was the Lama, I'd tell that spoiled pansy to lighten up a little bit and start acting like he's a newly single, unimaginably wealthy professional golfer with every conceivable luxury at his disposal.

A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-lagunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

I like this rookie...nerves of steele! A bit of a risk raising the eyre of a class A narcist with megliamania. You would think with all of the time he takes off Tiger could muster the energy to grind it out until the end. I bet he just not feel like himself any longer. Regardless of his part in it, divorce is a trauma. Still, I will never count that man out. I always wondered when his desire to "own his swing" The '97 swing was good enough (given his scoring abilities) the 2000 swing was good for 20 majors. This where Jack owns Tiger (mentally) Jack understood "balance" or what the purpose of the game really is. It seems he is no longer the best scorer out there...he never was the best ball striker. C'mon Tiger get back to basics...get the pill in the hole! Jack's record is looking safer!

He needs 5 majors to break Jack's record. That's a hall of fame career by itself! Something that 5 years ago looked like such a foregone conclusion sure looks a lot tougher now.

That guy who won 14 majors is gone. His swing looks like an average tour players swing but more importantly the putter that made him great has left him just like so many of the greats before him. If I was Tiger I would be much more worried about getting his putting stroke back.

You may be on to something. So much focus on his swing, but I don't remember seeing his putter let him down as much as it has in the last several years.

for those of you young un's who weren't around to remember that Jack had a few slumps in his career and his first was right about the age Tiger is.

1969 and 1979? With the exception of the 1986 Masters Jack was pretty much done in the early 80s. Not sure Jack really lost his way to the same degree Eldrick did.

while jack did win a tournament every year in the late 70's he went through periods of missed cuts and poor play then threw in a few good weeks. Tiger basically didn't play last year due to personal reasons and pulled his 2 top 5's in majors. it's been about a 1 year slump for tiger, and while we can't predict the future if he starts winning again it will be similar.
Jack was written off a few times, just to come back winning like the 2 majors in 1980.

Tiger is very talented but he is just a person. He has responsibilities, whatever they are, but rich or not he needs a break too. Wish I was rich...but...

Hope he gets er back some, but hope he has some real challengers in golf as well.
