What would you tell this guy to work on?

Yep, somebody very close to me.

Brian, Kevin or other kind instructor.
What would you tell this leftie to start working on? (And how.)
He is a 2 hcp:er, so he's a rather talented player, but i know, he has som problems and a trained eye can probably see what they are. The plane shift almost only occur when he's hitting his driver. Otherwise, sometimes toe hits with the irons..

Problems, when they come? Yes, hitting a big high push fade. Then if a provisional is hit - yeah a quick hand flip and as ordered, a quick hook right into the trees.:D

Help daddy to help. But shhh...

Sorry for the bad quality.

I'd work on footwork and knee action. Rear leg flexes more in the backswing. It then locks up in the downswing and the footwork doesn't help either. So I'd get the rear knee to 'straighten, but not lock' on the backswing and then I would show him the footwork of greats like Knudson, Moe, Greg Norman (pre-Harmon), Billy Casper, and others.

Lots of potential here in my opinion.

Flat and uses his hands hard at the last second.

Quick solution is the drill of hitting half shots with flat right wrist and keeping the left wrist bent at impact.

He could also swing more right. Show him so Hogan follow through's from DTL.

Tip Toe through the Tulips!

There is no rotation at all of his hips through the hit. The man is almost airborne at impact! Any basic pivot drill you can come up with would help. An underhand toss motion to get the feel of the hips rotation going back and through. Anything at all that will get him to make an athletic pivot would be a great help.

I teach the D3 NCAA Champion, Tain Lee, and his pattern is VERY similar and he's a superb ball-striker. Lots of young people are up on the toes through Impact. Maximum Radius!
In other words, there are worse swings on tour already. NOW, what does the ball do? How's the short game? How are you under pressure? Etc..

Bill, with the driver, the ball goes high left, like a push fade. Typical is, when he blasts of the prov ball, he snap hooks it. Or, well it happens he hits it well. Iron play is usually very, very good and the short game ok. Though it happens he "wrists" chips and pitches too much. (Sorry for any bad English)
What would you advice?

Thank you very much Bill, for helping.

Those ball flight problems are usually caused from the shaft being laid-off at release point. Consider getting him to try a fade with a slight 'over-the-top' start down like JB Holmes, Hale Irwin, Scott McCarron, and even Bruce Lietzke.
One more thing--at address have him poke his target side hip about 2.5 inches nearer to the target. He'll find it VERY difficult to push fade from here.
Good luck.

I just got a chance to look at Tain's swing on youtube.....do you really feel they are that simular. Tain seem more in the SnT mode to me.

That was a punch shot we were practicing and not his full motion.
He does keep his center over the ball, but he developed that organically and not by hitting P-this and P-that. I didn't see the front view of the young man's swing, but DTL elements are similar with the back leg straightening etc.

The problem with drawing conclusions from watching a swing sequence- you don't know what shot they were playing.
