What's the call?

I'm just wondering how in the hell this can be figured out. I have some ideas but I see numbers that are so ridiculously different all the time.

How much power does the pivot provide? (or does it mostly transport?)

And the triceps?

i'd say it depends on how it is used (ie correctly/efficiently and/or how much you pivot in the full stroke) and that the whole swing (pivot, arms, wristcock) used correctly/efficiently will give you more than the sum of the parts...you could try seeing for yourself by going to impact fix, then hit a ball just using wristcock, then add arms swinging across your chest to ~shoulder high (but don't let your hips move), then add pivot and see how far you hit each and therefore how much each "adds" to distance...again, my guess is that it will be very person-specific depending on how much they use a pivot in the full stroke and no "one right answer" for all comers...this probably doesn't help you much in the thread, but it is also probably why this can/is endlessly debated!

A very good question.

I know the answer, but I've been sworn to secrecy. Sorry. :)

(But, a hint, if you take a look at the physics of the swing you will see the obvious answer. Good luck. ) ;)

A lot.

I know Homer said Swinging (Pivot Thrust) and Hitting (Power Package or Right Arm Thrust) are equally effective. But from my experience, I can hit it further by walloping the ball with the Pivot. Is that because I'm not using my Right Arm Thrust properly? Maybe, just maybe.

There is less of a timing problem when thumping it with the Pivot too. You have to time the Right Arm Thrust exactly right to ensure your hands (and hence the clubhead) doesn't decelerate during Release.

Most,,, IMO

To me it seems that most long hitters have a dynamic pivot. The pivot is what generates the power, the accumulators do what they are named for, then physics of rotation takes it from there.

One would probably require more forearm strength to deliver the power and resist impact forces at the higher swing speeds 125-150.

My two cents,
