When the tee game goes to pot...what's your GO TO Shot?

Played my first round of the year yesterday and hit some really nice irons. My tee game was so-so on the front bit I was never comfortable. It went to hell on the back nine and i never recovered.

Since I really don't have one I thought i would ask people here:
What's everyone's GO TO shot when nothing is working off the tee? Favorite swing thought? Favorite club? Prayers? Be as technical as you like.

This is not technical. Played in my Seniors League yesterday. Fighting the 3 rd day of a Spring Headcold. Dripping, and aching.

Fairly tight course and very hilly. On three of the five Par 5's I tee'd off with a 5 iron, and then layed the next shots up to 120 - 150. Probably a decent normal Par 5 strategy for me. We play the White Tees.

Only hit Driver twice all day. Three Wood of the other Par 4's.

The 5 iron strategy is simply that I pretty much know it's going around 180 - 185 and in the fairway.

Three wood or Five wood. Swing thought, try not to have one while swinging. If all else fails there's always hole nineteen.

I usually resort to hitting a cut shot.

80% of getting through a bad day successfully is knowing when to resort to Plan B, and then adjusting your decision making accordingly. Hitting the correct club off the tee, knowing where to play into the greens, deciding to lay up at the right time, etc. are all just as important as having a "go-to" shot.

With a left to right wind, a big over the top, hold the face slice.

With a right to left wind, a roll the face open, roll the face closed hook.

Put it up in the wind with a helping spin.

Choke down on the driver an inch or two. I recall Sergio uses a 43.5" driver. Bubba Watson uses a cut down driver.

Try to take a very easy swing and have a feeling you are just going to bunt it out in the middle. Normally I surprise myself when I swing easy and the ball still goes far. 8/10 when I try to kill it bad things happen. I think the big thing for me is going past parallel. Swinging easier puts me at parallel or short of it.

Also, go back to the basics like setup, aim, grip, and a nice easy pivot.
