When you lose your pop!

Shots are weak, 15 to 20 yards short with driver, 10 to 15 yards short with irons. Where do you look first?

That's good by my standards. :D When things get out of whack, it's like the PM went out on the street naked!!!

Seriously, last weekend, I felt like I have never played golf before. Picked up on 8 on a par 3. Go figure.

I have found that playing the ball more forward helps. I tend to play the ball too far back, when I move it forward, I feel I have more room to swing, distance is regained. Lately this has been a big key for me.

For me, it's almost always losing wrist angle early, or never getting angle set correctly to begin with.

I go through periods like this and typically it comes down to losing lag, or translation would be I'm not hitting down and forward on the ball. Make sure your hands arriving before the clubhead and you're not flipping.

Take a backwards look.

Reverse the impetus on your down swing.

Start down slowly and finish fast otherwise you are just chucking your "pop" away.

Transition for me is out of wack, all arms and hands and dead pivot, leading to over the top, loss of lag, throwing the club away and getting stuck on the right side, besides that it's all good.... lol.

fighting this now!

I am more of a reader than a poster but I had to speak on this. I am fighting this right now. My last time I hit balls I think I figured it out........we will see next time I hit balls but I think it is STEERING. For me I think steering comes from trying to do too much with my hands. Grip pressure goes way up and I don't release the club fully. I get weak push and push with a hint of fade on it. From there you start doing everything (IE over the top, flipping, and hanging back) to try to close the face. My thought right now is getting back to walloping the ball with my pivot. Just holding onto the club with my hands with light grip pressure and let the pivot square the face. I was getting my draw back and distance. Let me know what you think.

Pete - Take a look at Dariusz's current thread on pressure points.
